Passing
To pass the ball, we kick the ball by using inside of the foot. This method is mostly used for passing, due to its accuracy and easy to control the direction and weight. This method can also be applied when you want to do both short passing and long passing. Also, it would be very useful, if possible, to practice on passing the ball by using both feet, which benefit with some circumstances.
There many ways to practice passing shot, for example, if you have a partner you can practice by passing a ball to your partner or knocking with the wall in case you do not have partner to practice with. You can start from passing in short distance such as 10-150 meters until you have enough skill, then try to pass to longer distance such as one side to another side of the pitch.

Shooting (strike)
For shooting, we generally use foot instep to kick the ball, because using foot instep will generate more power than using inside of the foot. The definite advantage of using foot instep to kick is that you can do a follow through (swing the kicking leg forward to the same direction of the ball), which will help to increase power. Using the upper part of foot instep (almost up to the ankle) is the part that create more powerful shoot, because this is the point that fully contact with the ball, this is the most effective part of the foot to kick especially if you want to strike the goal or to do a defensive kicks.

Using outside of the foot to kick is a lot more difficult, as you can not control both weight and accuracy of the ball's direction. It is very hard if you want to kick the ball to straight direction by using outside of the foot but it has definite advantage if you want to make a curved shot. Curved shot can be used when you want to pass the ball but there is an opponent obstructs the ball's path.

In summary, using different part of the foot to kick the ball will give different of results and they can be used in different situation. You have to practice and take intensive training of using all of them. Apart from using basic part of the foot to kick, you may also practice to use heel to kick to enhance your skill on entice opponent when you have difficult situation during the game. However, kick by using heel also have disadvantage as you can not control the direction of the ball and you should use it only when you think it is necessary to do. So you have to practice until you confident enough to use every part of the foot to kick. Then after you gain enough skill and get used to it you will eventually enjoy the game.

Tips
Please make sure that you always take a good care of your feet, keep it clean, cut the toe nails. Use soccer boot that fit to your feet, not too tight and not too loose. Use your imagination and vision during the game, do not only concentrate on the ball all the time, as you have to focus on the ball direction, your teammates, tactics etc. and this will benefit to your plays.
