Items To Put At The Foot Of Your Bed
Are you one of those lucky people who have a bedroom large enough for another piece of furniture at the foot of your bed? You can use this extra space to add another functional or decorative item. If you want, this space can be used to display a choice piece from a flea market, or you can just add your own. It all depends on the space you have and what you want to use it for. Here are some things you might want to consider for placing at the foot of your bed.
Storage Bench - It doesn't matter if you pick either an upholstered or a wooden piece; a storage bench gives you a great place to store your linen, pillows, blankets, etc. You can sit on it while putting on your socks and shoes, and a convenient place to put your bedspread at night.
Low Cabinet or Trunk - I recommend low and long pieces for this one, although I have seen a few tall cabinets that work great as well. You can conveniently store your CDs, books, bedding, and anything else that you use in the bedroom inside the drawers. A trunk can hold pillows and blankets. Get wooden pieces if you can, since these add balance to the interiors of your bedroom.
Chairs - If you frequently read in your bedroom, you might want to place one or two armchairs at the end of your bed. An ottoman and a reading lamp will provide you with a cozy, relaxing nook anytime of the day or night.
Wicker or Iron Seating - Like I said earlier, the foot of the bed provides you with an ideal location for a unique piece of furniture. Iron or wicker pieces are great for casual interiors or rooms with a classic look. You can add plaid or even floral cushions to soften the effect if you want.
TV Cabinet - The latest trend in bedroom furniture is a TV cabinet that goes up and down at a touch of a button. Think about it; you'll have a bench or cabinet during the day and an entertainment center at night! This option is quite expensive, though, so be prepared to shell out a bit more for this.
Table - A small, round or oval table will work great here. Get a floor-length tablecloth that matches your room. You can even add a small side chair if you have the space for it. A library table or a pedestal can be used for your CDs, DVDs, books, picture frames, or even a small TV or boombox. I recommend getting one that is not more than 8 inches taller than the top of your mattress.
Loveseat - This is perfect to put at the end of a king or queen-sized bed. Add a nice floor lamp to provide some soft light, decorate the loveseat with some cushions and an optional blanket, and you're ready to go!
Writing Desk - Adding a writing desk to the foot of your bed allows you to use your bedroom as a cozy study. You can read and write books, magazines, letters, and also place a computer or laptop on it.
These are just a few of the pieces that you can use to add that extra touch to your bedroom. With a little bit of creativity, you can find some more ideas to put at the end of your bed.
