Spider Veins Causes

Spider veins are veins that usually appear in the leg and look like spiders are actually in the leg. They are painful to the patient and are just as unsightly to the patient and to others that notice the veins on someone else. Many individuals associated these veins with appearing on the legs and are surprised to find spider veins on other areas of the body such as their face. In fact, spider-veins may appear on various areas of the body from top to bottom. They are the result of dilation of blood vessels beneath the skin, so they may appear wherever this occurs. Treatment spider veins is available primarily in two forms. Sclerotherapy and laser treatments are the two most popular forms of treatment. Many people find that sclerotherapy works for larger spider veins.

No one really knows why spider veins develop. Some say the causes are standing on your feet too long, or not exercising enough, or perhaps you inherited them from your parents. These are group of veins that have common appearances such as spider like or spider web like shape, linear shaped spider veins and tiny branch like. Laser treatment, another option for treating this kind of veins, can be done at a plastic surgery center using directed light to kill the veins. Obliteration of these small veins will diminish further appearance of these veins without damaging nearby tissue. No one knows the exact causes of spider veins but there are several factors that may make it more likely for you to develop them including: age, genes, pregnancy and hormonal changes, excess weight, standing or sitting for long periods and unprotected sun exposure.

Exercise is a great way to help with the spider veins. Make sure that you are stretching your legs and getting plenty of movement so that you are keeping the blood flowing through your legs. You should also make sure that you are wearing comfortable shoes when you have to be on your feet for longer periods of time. If you want to prevent varicose veins or spider veins you will want to wear sunscreen to protect the skin from damage to the skin. You want to exercise regularly so that you can improve your strength and circulation in the legs.
