Nowadays, it's getting harder and harder to do the right thing. We're not just talking about really big decisions, but we're also talking about the little things. For example, you are at the grocery store and you spot a buy one take item that's up for grabs. Almost everyone's getting their supply and you want to get one for yourself. But you should think about the consequences first. Those aren't natural cleaning product and you're pretty sure that the manufacturers don't care about Mother Nature. No matter how cheap it is, you shouldn't buy it! Why? You'll have a bigger price to pay later on. Just because of that item, you'll add to the ever growing pollution in this world. And that's not a good thing, now is it? So why not go to the next aisle where all the green cleaning products can be found and choose an all around cleaner that will get that coveted place of distinction under your sink.
So how can you be a true mean green machine? Well, with these tips and tricks, you can be a greener person - not literally though, that's just weird - and you can set a good example to the kiddos at the same time. So that when they become grownups, they'll know how to make the right decisions. Now that is truly hitting two birds at the same time.
Okay, so first things first; do you know about organic cleaning products? If you do, then you're probably curious about them. Well, first of all, just so you know, they're called organic because they don't use up as much energy as toxic cleaning aids. In order to make a single bottle of a regular cleaning product, it will have to go through a lot of chemical processes and use up a lot of electricity, gasoline and so on. Organic cleaning aids on the other hand, use recyclable, biodegradable ingredients that won't clog your sink or get stuck in that dumpsite for a hundred years at least. So when you go to your reliable grocery store, choose organic items if they're available. If not, then why not make your own concoction? Want to know how? Well, here are some organic cleaning recipes that you can do easily.
Baking soda plus an equal amount of water will make for a good all purpose cleaner. Use an old toothbrush to clean narrow surfaces - but don't use your pesky roommate's toothbrush, use an old one! Another good combination is lemon (or limes, whichever is available) mixed with a small amount of water. Lemon juice is a known antiseptic that can really kill germs. But, it's still gentle and if you have sensitive skin, you won't get irritated by it. Spray the lemon juice and water on sinks, toilet bowls and even on your bathtub right after cleaning with the baking soda. If you have left over lemon juice, you can even put it on your face. This is an effective toner that will leave your skin feeling tighter and firmer. Plus, if you have freckles and you want them to be less noticeable, this will help too. Now, on to the final part; if you still crave the smell that your old cleaning products leave behind, then why not switch to aromatherapy? You can choose lavender and chamomile in order to alleviate stress or you can use cinnamon scented oil for a cozier feel.
