Motivations For Getting Married

This wasn't the case years ago when I'd failed in relationship after relationship, but today I am incredibly happy and lucky to have married the woman of my dreams. Vania is a wonderful partner to me, and wonderful mother to my son.
I recently stumbled upon this article, which discusses the idea that sometimes people marry "unevenly," meaning one person is more in love than the other person. It also asks if two people can make that type of situation work.
Vania and I are equally crazy about each other, but I have a few friends and acquaintances who have married someone for more practical purposes…and maybe weren't quite evenly in love.
That got me thinking about the reasons we fall in love and get married in the first place. After all, it wasn't too long ago that marriages were more of a business transaction, and in many cultures, arranged marriages-not marrying "for love" as we tend to do in the Western world-are the norm.
I honestly think that all roads lead to commitment. If two people have respect and love for each other, and are committed to working on their relationship, and more importantly, making it work, they can be very happy together.
Which type of marriage do you think is better? Being completely and totally head over heels, or having a more logical marriage based primarily on partnership, children, and companionship?
