People struggle with weight loss everyday and have struggled for many, many years. It is always easy to point the finger someone else, or make an excuse for why you are not seeing results. My answer to this is to remember that every time you point the finger, there are three fingers pointing right back at you. In today's fitness industry personal trainers hear about every excuse and are witness to more weight loss mistakes that they would like to count. Yes, weight loss can be frustrating, but it is always very possible.

An Algonquin personal trainer has listed some of the bigger weight loss mistakes people make on a daily basis that can help them understand why they are NOT seeing results:

1. Not Eating Enough and At the Wrong Times:

Many people feel that if you eat less you will lose weight. Yes, that sounds logical; however, your body simply stores the food because it does not know when you are going to feed it again. Most people skip breakfast, eat a small lunch, and then over indulge for dinner. This is quite possibly the worst thing you can do. The ideal situation is to have you biggest meal for breakfast, and then eat smaller meals every two to three hours after that for about 4-6 meals. The problem with eating late at night is our body's metabolic rate lowers during night time since our body is at rest. The digested food will not be used by the body thus it will be stored as a fat. To lose weight, eat during the day when your body is active.

2. Consuming Sugar-Rich Foods
You may not know it, but juices, gums, and other foods that appear to be "good" for you have high sugar content. It sounds crazy, but eliminating sugar from your diet is a great idea!

4. Over Snacking

While on a diet, you tend to snack a little to satisfy food cravings. Before you know it, several "little snacking" adds up to a large amount of food intake. To avoid this, better keep a diet plan and follow it as strictly as you can.

5. Not Drinking Enough Water.
Not drinking enough water will dehydrate your body and the toxins stacked in the body will be stored and not flushed out. Consumption of too much coffee, soda, juice and water will also prevent you from losing weight and sodium load your body to hold water.

6. Not Exercising
A strict diet plan alone is NOT enough. You need to have all 3 components of fitness in your program to be successful. Healthy eating, cardio vascular training, and resistance training are the keys to success in a proper weight loss program.

7. Flying Solo
Attempting an Algonquin weight loss program is a hard task, attempting this task on your own is even worse. Surrounding yourself with the proper support system will help you stay motivated and accountable.

8. Lack of Sleep.

Your body needs rest. When you are putting your body through changes of nutrition and exercise it will need to adjust to the change and in the beginning be exhausted. When your body becomes very tired the only thing more important that exercise and nutrition is sleep. In order to allow your body to recover and not shut down, you have to give your body the proper rest.

Watch out for the above weight loss mistakes and you will be on track to reach your desired weight loss goals.
