"Powerful automated nesting and NC Programming software packages are required to meet the specific requirements of fabricators using routers (stack, plate, wood and composite)," according to Michael D. Lundy, P.E., President & CEO of Optimation.

OptiRout is a solution for fabricators using routers which automatically matches geometry to drill sizes within a user-defined tolerances as well as provides an easy-to-use method of "point-and-shoot" identification of auxiliary router toolpaths.   The software solution Interfaces with most current scanner technology while automatically detecting geometry requiring an auxiliary router bit.  Working with Part Designs CAD drawings along                                                  with pertinent pre-programmed inputs and manufacturing attributes are imported into Optimation software. OptiRout is compatible with a wider                                    range of CAD formats than any other nesting software.

Lundy emphasized that, "The Storehouse of Knowledge is a critical element to the Optimation solution.  Material, machine and tool parameters are stored in the Knowledge Base, along with other key attributes about your operation. Similarly, design and key values of the ready-to-nest part program are stored in the Part Library where they are available for immediate use. Considered together, these variables can be used to create the most "intelligent" nesting pattern possible, namely the one best suited to the needs of your situation."

OptiRout also automatically provides rivet or large screw placement in skeleton, as well as the option of processing single sheet or stack of sheets.
It allows use of alternative materials when nesting for increased material utilization and provides "Point and Shoot" tab placement after a nest is created.

Some of the special features that fabricators have requested, available in the OptiRout solution, include the ability to:

...Automatically calculate maximum sheet stack height per nest for stack type routers.

...Automatically place hold-downs such a screws or rivets in                                      skeleton according to user-defined tab shapes.

...Automatically sort cycles such as drilling for hold-downs, applying                           hold-downs, routing, and drilling through hold-downs.

...Provide parameters for identifying zones on the nest for cycle                                sorting in order to limit excess rapid travel.

...Permit multiple-pass routing on designated entities.

...Automatically sort toolpaths for processing nests that require the sheet to be flipped for pocketing on both sides of the material.

For 30 years OptimationÂ(r) has been the world leader in Part Nesting for Optimized Material and Labor utilization. Consistently providing product advancement leadership to industry, the company's new Nesting Technology, AxiomVE make previous nesting methods obsolete.   The new technology, Vision Emulationâ„¢, allows the system to "see" the shape of parts, just as human eyes would view them.  When a person looks at a part, they see the whole shape and any special features on the part.  This information is then used to determine if the part will fit in an area of the nest.  Vision Emulation eliminates excessive trial and error as well as excessive rotation.

Optimation (www.optimation.com) offers benchmarking against any other method of part nesting; recent benchmarks have show improvements up to 15% in material efficiency alone.  As lean efficiencies are essential, the most advanced nesting technology guarantees the most important parts are always nested in the next available machine, providing advanced information to integrated costing, labor reporting, and material inventory systems. Because Optimation is strong financially and has the most advanced technology; the company offers direct financing from its own capital resources.
