The Garmin Streetpilot: Is It Worth The Investment?

If you are a beginner to GPS devices or simply horrible with technology, then a good GPS unit for you will be the Garmin StreetPilot c320. Garmin calls this a Beginner's GPS and this is an accurate statement. As far as GPS devices go, this is remarkably easy to use with it being so simple to input your desired destination and other information, and the lack of the more complicated features of other models.
However, if you are looking for the latest GPS technology with all the whizz bang features of advanced models, then this shouldn't be your first choice. StreetPilot has produced an easy to use and functional car GPS with the basic features you should expect from a modern car navigator. And yet, you don't need to expect the operating difficulties that some of other units have. You can pretty much use it straight out of the box, with only a small amount of time required to learn how to operate it.
This GPS is designed specifically for your car coming with an in built speaker and some of the very best audio directions available. Utilizing Naqteq road maps, you can import 3rd party CSV files on to your system so that you can know where speed cameras, traffic hazards and school zones are to be found on your trip.
The screen can be read in sunlight and it comes with a battery charger that can be re-charged using the USB holder that comes with it. The battery will last about 8 hours after recharging.
The screen may be described as a screen with medium brightness. The user interface is akin to other Garmin units which use a touch screen for data input. But it contains only two controls other than the touchscreen. These are the ON/OFF push button and the "sliding fingertip" volume control.
Users utilize the USB interface to load maps and to upload or download any required data from the device. However, if you remove the SD card and use a memory card writer, the maps should load much faster. Map loading times may not be an issue for non-technological GPS users.
Like all contemporary car navigators, this GPS device free itself of almost ALL of the bad effects of GPS measurement inaccuracy that bother a lot of users. When CitySelect is used, the Street Pilot will "lock" your vehicle track to roads as long as you travel on the road. Another useful feature with CS/CN maps is that all approaching cross street names are displayed prior to arrival.
