Pirate Chic Is Out!

Okay, ladies, I could understand the appeal
of the Skull tees and "hoodies", pants,
necklaces, earrings, hats, handbags and oh
my god do I need to keep going, for about
five minutes but the trend has exhausted
itself. This pirate trend (rrr....)seems to be
quite popular among large and /or fake
chested women in their forties and many
high-end designers like Juicy Couture,
Isabella Fiore, and Ed Hardy, have jumped
on the skull and cross bones pirate motif
bandwagon.
I could understand the sex appeal but many
women in my opinion have gone completely
over board. Whatever happened to classy
and tasteful. It is one thing to have your
own fashion sense and take fashion risks. I
am all for that! But Pirates? Yo Ho Yo Ho
Pirate Chic is out! If you are the unfortunate
woman who traded in her entire wardrobe
for skull and cross bone emblems and big
hoop earrings that you paid quite a few
doubloons for because you thought pirates
were here to stay.... That is unfortunate for
you. But, it is time for a new wardrobe!
Stop looking to self proclaimed celebrity
fashion icons in their teens and twenties for
what's popular. The best thing about not
being in your teens and twenties is not
giving a crap what people think....about
anything.
Do not fear though. You have a lot of other
choices. You can still look sexy without an
eye patch and a skull cap. (Seriously, you
know some of you have those too.) There
are a lot of brands out there that large and or
fake chested women (LFCW)can wear.
One brand that that is particularly stylish,
sexy, but tasteful, is Free People. And yes it
is acceptable for women any age. Nordstrom
sells an abundance of this brand. Another
Nordstrom favorite is James Perse. You can
also find a lot of his line at online boutiques
such as eLUXURY.com. His line is casual,
fitted and gives an effortless sexy appeal.
Not to mention both of these brands have a
timeless quality about them so you do not
risk falling into a fad and having to clean out
your closets once the fad has run its course.
Ladies let's have your own style. Let the
teenage twenty somethings have their
moment. You need to represent who the
thirty and fourty-somethings are. Are you
desperate to be twenty-somethings? God, I
hope not. Go out there, find your inner
pirate, Take the risk and walk the plank. I
think you will find that the sharks in that
water..... don't bite.
