Umaga, real name Eddie Fatu, was born on March 28th in 1973 in Ohio. Although his parents are from the Isle of Samoa. His mother Vera was the sister of Afa and Sika of the Wild Samoans, He was the brother of Solofa Jr. (Rikishi) and Sam (Tama or Tonga Kid). He was also the cousin of The Rock.

He first entered the wrestling world with the WWE in 2002. He and his cousin Matt were known as 3 Minute Warning, They worked as enforcers for the then GM of Raw, Eric Bischoff under the name of Jamal (Eddie) and Rosey (Matt). It lasted a year as Eddie was released for his involvement in a bar fight. headed to Japan in 2003. Where Fatu used his Jamal ring name and enjoyed tag team success with Justin Credible and Taiya Kea.

Now we travel 2 years forward to 2005. Why? Because Eddie resigned with WWE. Original plans were to reform 3 Minute Warning but after a few house show matches and Rosey (Matt) left the WWE. So Eddie was alone and so came the birth of Umaga. Umaga was managed by Armando Alejandro Estrada who described Umaga as a destructive savage who could only be controlled by himself.

Umaga's first feud was with Ric Flair, Armando started this feud by interrupting Flair's promo stating that he is a great fan but "Flair needs to retire" and that "there is a new hero" Umaga came down and beaten down Flair. Umaga then beat up jobbers until Backlash where he decimated Flair at Backlash ending the feud. A rubbish feud in my opinion but hey we all gotta start somewhere.

Now we travel into the summer months. Umaga was on a roll defeating the likes of John Cena, Triple H and Shawn Michaels. His next feud started in August with Kane. It lasted 2 months where they enjoyed a number of matches until Umaga won a Loser Leaves Raw match sending Kane to Smackdown! They had one final match at Cyber Sunday where the WWE Universe chose Kane to fight Umaga over Sandman and Chris Benoit. Umaga won. Better feud than his one with Flair!

Umaga's streak of not being pinned lasted 34 televised matches. It was ended by John Cena at New Year's Revolution WWE Championship match. Armando then deemed the victory as a fluke and a Last Man Standing Match was set for the Royal Rumble. Before the Royal Rumble Umaga attacked John Cena injuring his spleen making a Championship defence impossible. However John retained by applying a STFU with the ring rope on Umaga. Even better feud!

The his next feud was with Bobby Lashley. It featured a Hair vs Hair match which Bobby won so Vince McMahon gets his head shaved. The feud then lasted beyond Wrestlemania. 2 weeks after Bobby Lashley helped Santino Marella defeat Umaga for the Intercontinental Championship. Then on April 29th at Backlash Umaga helped Mr McMahon capture the ECW Championship from Bobby Lashley. Umaga then continued to participate in the Lashley vs McMahon feud as at One Night Stand Umaga aided Vince and Shane McMahon in a Street Fight. However Bobby Lashley overcame the odds and defeated Vince McMahon to regain his ECW Championship. The feud then ended. This was the best feud of his career I think.

Umaga then regained his Intercontinental Championship and turned face for a little while aiding John Cena against Carlito and Randy Orton before turning heel again and attacking Jeff Hardy. The next week he lost the IC title to Hardy and then had a Survivor Series feud with Triple H which he lost. Umaga then had a short feud with Batista but he lost to him at Wrestlemania.

Then on April 27th Umaga's mother, Vera, died after a 7 year long battle with cancer. RIP.

Umaga then got drafted to Smackdown! as part of the WWE Draft in June 23rd 2008. He had a very short feud with Mr Kennedy and The Big Show before suffering a torn posterior cruciate ligament. It ruled him out of action for 7 months. He returned in January 30th 2009 defeating Jimmy Wang Yang. He then suffered his first loss against Triple H after Legacy attacked Triple H during the match. Then he kept on stopping CM Punk from cashing his Money In The Bank briefcase. Then he spoke in English for the first time as Umaga challenging Punk in his last match a Samoan Strap match which he lost.

June 8th 2009 saw Umaga being released from the WWE because he abused the WWE Wellness Policy for the 2nd time and he refused to enter rehabilitation.

Then we travel to the 4th of December, Eddie Fatu was found on his couch with blood pouring from his nose and he wasn't breathing. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead at around 7:00pm after suffering a 2nd heart attack. He was aged 36 and died because of acute toxicity due to combined effects of hydrocodone, carisoprodol, and diazepam. A great Samoan wrestler is now 6 feet under.

So with that we conclude our trip down Umaga's career. I am still shocked that he was able to carry on his last bit of his career after his mother died. I say bravo to him. But looking back at his career he nailed his unbeatable Umaga gimmick perfectly in my opinion. He was good as Jamal but most wrestling fans will remember him as Umaga. Also I feel that he should of had a World title run he deserved it in my opinion. But read next week as I take you guys down the career of The British Bulldog. So until then I'm "Unstoppable" and you have been a great reader. See ya next week!
