Dracula The Musical

Dracula the musical was based on Bram Stokers famous novel and the men behind the scene who made this musical possible was Christopher Hampton, Don Black and Frank Wildhorn. The regional premiere was held in California at the La Jolla Playhouse in 2001 and was then premiered on Broadway in 2004.

Actors such as Tom Hewitt who took the part of Dracula and Melissa Errico stared as Mina Harker and Lucy was played by Kelli O Hara. However despite these well known actors and the spectacular special effects the show mainly received medico reviews and only ran for a mere 154 performances. Thereafter the show moved on to Europe.

The scenes comprised of a young lawyer Jonathan Harker travels to Transylvania from England to sign a deal with Count Dracula who is in the process of purchasing a house in London. The Count immediately notices Jonathan's fiancée the beautiful Mina which has an immediate and strange effect on the Count.

Jonathan stays the night at the Dracula's castle only to discover that his host is a vampire which bites Jonathan. Mina travels to Jonathan and marries him in Budapest and Mina's friend Lucy marries Arthur in London. Dracula leaves his castle and head to London in search of victims and his first victim is Lucy who dies soon after Dracula bites her and in turn becomes a vampire joining Dracula's quest.

When the beautiful Mina meets Count Dracula she feels a compelling attraction towards him and invites him in and Dracula encourages her to taste his blood as he intends to turn her into a vampire as well. Dracula finds that the vampire hunters are closing in on him so he needs to return to Transylvania and Mina goes with him as she and the Count are now connected and the final countdown came when Dracula asked Mina to release him from his doomed existence.
