Kids love Halloween, and what's not to love with the costumes, candy and face painting? In fact, kids like Halloween festivities as much as they like Easter egg hunts. There are many Halloween festivities from parties at schools and churches to parties at private homes. If you are interested in hosting a Halloween party then you will want to know all the details before starting. Fortunately, if you have the things kids like your Halloween party will go off without a hitch.

First of all you will want to make a guest list. Once you have an idea of how many individuals will be at the party you will be better able to plan. For instance, if you have a large crowd or a small crowd it doesn't matter but you will know how much Halloween candy and chocolates to buy. Once you know the amount of guests you will have and have purchased the Halloween candy then you are ready to make other plans.

A Halloween costume contest is a great way to pass the time and keep everyone involved and happy. You will want to come up with a few different categories so you will have lots of winners, especially if the party is for kids. For example, you could have categories for the scariest; best overall costume, best girl costume, best boy costume, best character costume, and anything you can think of to have a lot of winners. Make sure you give a participatory prize to each child so they all feel good about themselves and enjoy the party.

Another fun activity you can include at your Halloween party is face painting. This is especially a good idea for kids who show up to the party without a costume and there will certainly be some. Face painting might not go with everyone's costume so all the kids might not want it. But those kids who don't have a costume for whatever reason will certainly feel part of the Halloween party by having their faces painted.

Beyond that you will want to have plenty of refreshments and spooky music. Consider making cupcakes that look like ghosts and black punch with spiders floating in it. There are all kinds of Halloween recipes you can find on the Internet to make your Halloween party extra special. You can find Halloween music CDs as well that add a ghoulish atmosphere to your party, too.

Any other fun activities that you can think of may be included in your Halloween party as well. Keep in mind the weather and the kids that will be coming over when making your plans and you will surely plan a great Halloween party that everyone will be talking about!
