Social Bookmarking - Fast Social Bookmarking
This is a concept that started in 1996 with the launch of itList.com and has today become popular with the advent of the most popular social bookmarking site till date, del.icio.us.
To use social bookmarking, you have to sign up for an account and post your URLs. Each posting needs a URL, a title for the text, a short description and the tags for bookmarking your link. So use unique tags on your webpage for identification purposes. Identical tags are linked together so that the same tag is used for similar web pages and images.
Social bookmarking services provide you with bookmarks; save these bookmarks to electronic resources using a web browser for better social bookmarking. You find that if you classify, index or categorize your bookmarks, using user-defined tags, you are sure to do better in social bookmarking. Joining a social networking site, and sharing your bookmarks publicly or with other members interested in the same product will bring better results to your social bookmarking. It is important to do some research when using social bookmarking by looking for other users having similar interests and resources tagged to your resources.
Make periodical checks on the popularity of a resource by finding out how many people had bookmarked it; this helps you decide if you are using the right tags for social bookmarking. Syndication of resources links using RSS is also a good idea to improve your social bookmarking which in turn improves the ranking of your website to give you a better page rank.
