Find the Time: You Deserve Art

There is an artist within us all. It is dying to get out and do something for itself. But, life gets in our way too many times and we pass up the chance to explore our world, explore ourselves and reach a more fulfilling purpose.

Life has a way of getting in our way. It even devalues us at times. You would need to think about that for a second in order to fully comprehend it. Life forces us to make choices. To work or to play is the main theme. When we were kids, the choice was simple. We were going to play!

But as we grow into adulthood, we find ourselves taking the other choice. We choose to work. We have bills to pay, mouths to feed. We need that paycheck. But, how good would it be to play?

As we work and work with no light at the end of the tunnel, we are taking value away from our own lives. You may look at it as adding value. You are acquiring things. You are saving money. You are building a life for yourself that you can be proud you earned. But, you're not enjoying that life that much if you stop to think about it. You are working so hard for it that you hardly have time to stop and enjoy it.

I'm glad my work is in art. But, I can relate to those of you who have too much on your plate to see over it. I can relate to those of you who wonder where you are going to find the time. Taking the kids to soccer practice after work. Running errands until dinner. Making dinner. Getting the kids ready for bed and making sure they have their homework finished. I can relate.

And if you are single, your life is no less stressful. You actually might even work more hours, cutting into the amount of hours you have available to you. And you have errands you have to run as well. I know and I understand all this. So, let's try a few things. They will enrich your life.

Think about all the activities throughout your day that don't add enrichment to your life at all. Sitting in front of the television might be a nice time to relax. But, there's time. On a Saturday morning when the kids are still asleep, because we all know how late they can sleep, there's time. Of course, you have to read the paper. Of course, you should get yourself a cup of coffee. Then, take your time to do something artistic.

It's basically any time you choose to relax. No body can keep moving forward without ever taking time to rest. It will burnout. It will lose speed. It just might stop altogether. So, you need to take that time.

Art is not only a creative recreational activity, but it also gives you energy. Your mind is renewed. It has just explored fairly new avenues where it hardly gets to go. It has wiped the cobwebs from that part of your brain. Now you are rejuvenated like you just gave life to a spirit that was slowly fading into oblivion.

Art conquers many things, but it doesn't conquer us. It can overcome the desire to quit on life. It can overcome the restrained feeling we often get from life. But, it is a life giving force. When you take that brush in hand, you come alive. And you need that in your life. So, find the time.
