But, before you decide to participate in such an event you must realize that it is a very long race which covers a length of 26.2 miles. Therefore, you would have train yourself properly before you could participate in such an event.
While training for such an event, many people who are participating in such an event for the first time makes mistakes. We would like to highlight some of these mistakes to help you prepare for the event in a better manner.
The most important point you should keep in mind while training, that you should not overdo these exercises. You should not increase the length you are running abruptly. You should try to increase it slowly. Do not try to increase it by more than 10% per week. If you do not follow this advice, you may land up with serious injury. Such injury could completely jeopardize your entire plan to participate in such a program as you may be side lined for months to recover from such an injury. Actually, you would require regular and proper training so that you would be ready to participate on the day of race and complete the course.
To be successful in your training program, you might have to bring a change in your way of living. The first point in such a lifestyle change would be your nutrition. You should avoid taking junk foods and try to eat wholesome, nutritious food only. You should try to eat more fruits and vegetables. You should also ensure that you are drinking sufficient water. Avoid drinking alcoholic drinks as much as possible. Taking proper rest is also very important. Have a good sleep every day. When you are going to attend such a race, you should try to avoid new dress and shoes. You should wear dress which you have worn earlier. Same is the case with your shoes.
Before the start of the race, you should get properly warmed up. You should wear some warm clothing in case the weather is cold and the race would take place after some time. Apply lubricants to areas of the body which could chafe. Maintaining your strength of mind is very important. Do not have any negative thoughts during racing.
You should start the race slowly. You should increase your speed after covering 20 miles.
To avoid getting injured after completing the race, you should walk on for 5-10 minutes to enable your feet to get cooled down.
Follow these points without any fail and start preparing to participate in a Marathon in your city.
