These days there are many families struggling to cope with raising a family whilst working in demanding jobs as well as having to care for an elderly parent. Seniors are living longer these days with the advances in medicine and generally living healthier lifestyles as they have become more aware of the importance of looking after oneself with healthy eating and exercising.
Women are often caught between having to care for their children with many extra mural activities and find themselves rushing between piano lessons, sports activities etc and find that there are not enough hours in the day to be a productive caregiver for an elder. Stress becomes an issue, and under these circumstances the entire family is at risk of feeling `bogged` down with daily routines.
At this stage it is advisable for them to seek help from family and friends, but it is not always possible, and this is the time for them to call in the professional Caregivers who would give expert attention to their elder.
For anyone considering taking up this as a profession, maybe they have in the past been a Caregiver to a family member, and find that they would slot in very well into this kind of position, it certainly would be worthwhile doing this on a full time or part time basis.
No experience or medical skills are necessary to qualify, training is provided and it would be an excellent way of supplementing income. One could choose to work flexible hours which would be perfect for those who have retired.
Becoming a Caregiver is a rather unique job with responsibilities and challenges whether they be physical or emotional, and also a lot of joy knowing that they are helping others and it certainly is rewarding.
This would certainly be an excellent way of interacting with others outside of your home, where you would no doubt build lasting friendships and make a difference in the lives of others.
One would need to have a pleasant and caring personality putting the needs of those in want of attention first, and know that a warm and friendly smile with plenty of encouragement goes a long way.
