These days, our the mobile phone are really important to us that it is hard to imagine life without them. However, they're a quite new invention. this article explores the history of mobile phones & questions what the future holds for it.

Mobile telephones were born whenseveral mobile radio users, known as the mobileers, popularised the use of mobile phone technology. Mobile telephones were originally installed in vehicles permanently, but later versions of the radio, which were called transportables, could also be carried, which meant that they could be used as a mobile or as moveable two-way radio. during the 1940s, Motorola developed a two-way radio in a bag, the walkie talkie, & this was widely regarded as one of the first mobiles.

The first mobile phones are now known as first generation (1g) mobile telephones.

The first handheld phone to be released in the usa was the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X in 1983. mobile phones began to become popular in the 1980s with the introduction of cellphones that were based on cellular networks. mobile telephones were initially somewhat larger than current ones, & they were first made for installation in vehicles only, which is why they were called the car phone. these chunky units were later transformed for use as portable telephones the size of a small suitcase & the rest is history.

Second generation, also called 2g, mobile phones were introduced in the nineties. 2g telephone systems were characterised by their use of digital circuit transmission & the introduction of advanced & quick telephone to network signals.

The commercial release of 2g systems saw phones move from historic 1-g phones to teeny hand held devices, which were much more portable. this change was possible through technological developments for instance more advanced batteries & energy saving electronics.

The second generation mobile phones had a number of advantages over 1-g devices. These included text messaging, which initially became possible on gsm networks & eventually on all digital networks. the earliest machine-sent text message was sent in 1991 in great britain. the earliest person to person text message was sent in finland in 1993. sms soon became the communication method of preference & the general population now prefer sending text messages to placing voice calls.

Following 2g mobile telephones, 3g mobile mobile phone technology arrived. 3-g is the name given to the third generation of mobile mobile phone standards & technology.

3-g technologies allow network operators including 02 & orange to offer their clients a wider range of advanced services, containing video calls, & wireless internet.

The very first 3-g network was launched by NTT DoCoMo in japan in may 2001. it received a commercial launch in japan on 1 october 2001. the very first European pre commercial 3g network was launched on the isle of man by Manx Telecom, who're owned by bt, in December 2001.

Following 3g, we can look forward to the arrival of 4-g technology, which should be the best & most developed mobile telephone technology yet.

Thank you for browsing our article about the invention of mobile phones. as you have probably realised by now, the mobile telephone has come a long way since it was first launched & chances are, it will be developed even further.
