Broadway Show Ticket For The Lion King

The Lion King - the musical by Disney - opened to rave reviews in October 1997, at Broadway's New Amsterdam Theater. Today, more than nine years, and 3,794 performances later (as of November 19, 2006), the musical is still going strong, and is the first choice in family entertainment. On June 13, 2006, after nearly nine years on the trot, The Lion King moved to the 1,597 seat Minksoff Theater, run by the Nederlander Group. To accommodate the musical at its Proscenium stage, the Minksoff Theater, on the third floor of the Viacom office building, was completely refurbished. This took 200 artisans and craftsmen six months to do the job.

The Lion King is based on the classic 1994 animated feature film by Disney. This award winning musical has brought the animations to life by creating a visual treat. This powerful musical won 6 Tony awards out of 11 nominations in 1998. The Tony awards were for: Best Musical, Best Director (Musical) - Julie Taymor, Best Costume designer - Julie Taymor, Best Choreographer - Garth Fagan, Best Lighting Designer - Donald Holder, and Best Scenic Designer - Richard Hudson.

The Lion King Story

This is the story of the lion prince - Simba, son of the lion king Mufasa. His uncle - Scar, plots to kill both, the king and the prince. Simba survives the attempt and thinking himself responsible for his father's death, flees.

This musical is an extravaganza, the likes of which has never been seen on stage before. With a cast of 40 actors, but not a trace of human existence on stage, this musical has won more than 25 awards in 1998. Rich in African mythology, and replete with primitive African rhythms, The Lion King features five songs - as composed by Elton John and Tim Rice in the original film, with additional African and South African music. This unmatched production has giraffes strutting, birds swooping, and gazelles leaping on the stage.
