As we knew, the Bible is more than 10 times the Quran word-wise. The Balance is mentioned 19 times in the Bible and 10 times in the Quran.

Hence, the opportunity of the Bible to talk about the Balance is more than that of the Quran.

The Balance in the Bible:

The Lord says: Use honest scales and honest weights, however they said: cheating with dishonest scales and the merchant uses dishonest scales.

Then the Bible talks about:

- My misery be placed on the scales!

- Let God weigh me in honest scales

- If men weighed on a balance, they are nothing

- Who weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?

- The nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scale

- How do you weigh your hair?

- Weigh out silver on the scales

- The rider of the black horse was holding a pair of scales in his hand.

Use honest scales, said the Lord:

Leviticus 19:36

Use honest scales and honest weights, an honest ephah and an honest hin. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt.

Proverbs 11:1

The LORD abhors dishonest scales, but accurate weights are his delight.

Proverbs 16:11

Honest scales and balances are from the LORD; all the weights in the bag are of his making.

Proverbs 20:23

The LORD detests differing weights, and dishonest scales do not please him.

Ezekiel 45:10

You are to use accurate scales, an accurate ephah and an accurate bath.

Micah 6:11

Shall I acquit a man with dishonest scales, with a bag of false weights?

However they are saying?

Amos 8:5

saying, "When will the New Moon be over that we may sell grain, and the Sabbath be ended that we may market wheat?"- skimping the measure, boosting the price and cheating with dishonest scales,

Hosea 12:7

The merchant uses dishonest scales; he loves to defraud.

Daniel 5:27

Tekel : You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.

--

The misery on the scales!

Job 6:2

"If only my anguish could be weighed and all my misery be placed on the scales!

How do you know that you are blameless?

Job 31:6

let God weigh me in honest scales and he will know that I am blameless-

Men are nothing if weighed on a balance

Psalm 62:9

Lowborn men are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie; if weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath.

Who weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?

Isaiah 40:12

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?

The nations are like dust on the scales.

Isaiah 40:15

Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales; he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust.

How do you weigh your hair?

Ezekiel 5:1

"Now, son of man, take a sharp sword and use it as a barber's razor to shave your head and your beard. Then take a set of scales and divide up the hair.

Weigh out silver on the scales

Isaiah 46:6

Some pour out gold from their bags and weigh out silver on the scales; they hire a goldsmith to make it into a god, and they bow down and worship it.

Jeremiah 32:10

I signed and sealed the deed, had it witnessed, and weighed out the silver on the scales.

The rider of the black horse:

Revelation 6:5

When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand.

The Balance in the Quran:

- Allah sent His Messengers and sent down with them the Book and the Balance

-the Quran tells us about the story of the Prophet "Shu'aib" who is not mentioned in the Bible.

-come not nigh to the orphan's property, give measure and weight with full justice ; whenever ye speak, speak justly, even if a near relative is concerned; and fulfill the Covenant of Allah:

The Sciences and the Balance

The Balance and the Day of Judgment

The Messengers had the Book and the Balance

Surah 57:25

"We sent aforetime Our Messengers with Clear Signs and sent down with them the Book and the Balance (of Right and Wrong), that men may stand forth in justice; and We sent down Iron, in which is (material for) mighty war, as well as many benefits for mankind, that Allah may test who it is that will help, unseen, Him and His Messengers: for Allah is Full of Strength, Exalted in Might (and able to enforce His Will)."

This verse gives the summary of the stories of mankind with the Prophets (Messengers) sent by Allah. All the Prophets had their Book and recommended the use honest Balance.

"Shu'aib", the missed messenger!

In the verses, 7:85, 11:84 and 11:85 the Quran tells us about the story of the Prophet "Shu'aib" who, Allah sent to the Madyan people. Those people used to use dishonest scales.

"Shu'aib" told them to use honest scales and to give just measure and weight; and do no mischief on the earth

Surah 7:85

"To the Madyan people We sent Shu'aib, one of their own brethren: he said: "O my people! worship Allah; ye have no other god but Him. Now hath come unto you a Clear (Sign) from your Lord! give just measure and weight, nor withhold from the people the things that are their due; and do no mischief on the earth after it has been set in order: that will be best for you, if ye have Faith."

11:84

"To the Madyan people (We sent) Shu'aib, one of their own brethren: he said: "O my people! Worship Allah: ye have no other god but Him. And give not short measure or weight: I see you in prosperity, but I fear for you the Penalty of a Day that will compass (you) all round"

Surah 11:85

"And O my people! give just measure and weight, nor withhold from the people the things that are their due: commit not evil in the land with intent to do mischief."

N.B.: The story of the Prophet "Shu'aib" is not found in the Bible!

A commandment: use honest balance and weigh with justice

Surah 55:7-9

[7] And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice),"

[8] In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance."

[9] So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance."

Some other recommendations:

Surah 6:152

"And come not nigh to the orphan's property, except to improve it, until he attains the age of full strength; give measure and weight with (full) justice; no burden do We place on any soul, but that which it can bear, whenever ye speak, speak justly, even if a near relative is concerned; and fulfill the Covenant of Allah: thus doth He command you, that ye may remember."

Herein we have some social and behavioral recommendations:

Come not nigh to the orphan's property,

Give measure and weight with full justice;

Whenever ye speak, speak justly, even if a near relative is concerned;

Fulfill the Covenant of Allah Who create you.

The Sciences and the Balance

Surah 15:19

"And the earth We have spread it forth; set thereon mountains firm and immovable (placed therein firm hills or made in it firm mountains); and produced therein all kinds of things in due balance."

In this verse, the Quran says that everything produced in the Earth has a due balance.

This verse preceded the sciences by more than 1300 years.

It is a fact that everything produced in the Earth has a due balance.

Example of such "due balance":

The due balance between bacteria in the soil and the plants.

The due balance of worms in the soil

The due balance of the Algae, fungi in the soil.

The due balance of the different constituents of each plant.

Etc.

One could write a book to interpret this verse.

This scientific meaning is not present in the Bible.

The Balance and the Day of Judgment

Surah 42:17

"It is Allah Who has sent down the Book in truth, and the Balance (by which to weigh conduct). And what will make thee realize that perhaps the Hour is close at hand?"

Herein, Allah reminds man by the Hour, the Day of Judgment and the afterlife.

Now, after you smart reader have read about the Balance in the Bible and the Quran, I will leave you to answer the dogmatic question:

"is the Quran quoted from the Bible"?
