Avoid Stressful Deadlines
I've mentioned many times in the past the stress involved in an upcoming deadline for some piece of marketing. When you can practically see the deadline like a tangible thing looming in your future it can do a lot to stress you out and leave your nerves raw.
No one likes that experience, but you know what can be even worse? Have that same deadline for a presentation looming in your near future. In normal marketing if your advertising isn't as good as it could've been because you didn't have enough time your sales will certainly suffer, which is obviously bad, but you aren't there personally to see people looking at your ad.
For a presentation you're up there in front of all of those people. And let me tell you from past experience, the less prepared you are the worse it all becomes. Staring across that sea of eyes watching me, I can just feel the stress building up in me, and odds are good everything is going to be worse because of it.
Nothing brings out confidence like knowing you have everything in order. If you've spent the right amount of time on things and you started well in advance you can be certain that you'll get it all ready on time. This helps ensure everything is going well, and keeps you upbeat, which helps even more to avoid any kind of problems.
Don't wait until the last minute to consider your presentation folder printing. Design them as soon as you can along with preparing whatever supplementary material you planned on bringing. That way you don't have to wake up the morning of your presentation wondering if you managed to get the presentation folder printing done on time, because you will have already gotten it out of the way weeks in advance.
Get your speech ready early so you can practice it that many additional times before getting up in front of people. If you've had the needed practice you'll give off a wave of confidence that will put everyone at ease, especially yourself.
Speeches of any kind can be stressful things that many like to avoid at all costs. To be honest I think this actually sets a lot of people up for some painful experiences. You want to avoid thinking about anything dealing with your presentation because it makes you nervous, so you put off preparing for it for so long that when the time does come where you have to work on it, things have gotten so far behind you've doubled your stress.
This also helps to ensure things will go wrong because you didn't put the time needed into making things run smoothly.
Don't let any of this happen to you. Start getting yourself ready as soon as you know a speech or presentation is coming. In the end you'll feel a lot better because of it.
