There are more and more specialist travel agencies launching that specialise in organising charter flights for sports fans. The number of sports enthusiasts who will follow their teams around the world is increasing and these specialist agencies are capitalising on this growth.
One such travel agent arranges something in the region of 240 individual charter flights specifically to fly fans. That's in excess of 100,000 people in the last 12 months. As Andy, the senior travel manager of this company explains:
We get involved with flying fans to watch anything from European football to formula One Grand Prix events, we even get involved with some incentive flights for a number of blue chip clients from time to time. The list is really endless. We're currently working closely with three of the premier clubs who are all still active in the two major European football tournaments. They have an allocation of around 8000 tickets for each away match and a high percentage of our travellers actually want to fly there and back same-day.
Once we have an indication of the numbers, routes and dates etc, we talk to V-One and they source a selection of aircraft to suit. My job is fairly straight forward once the experts are involved. All I need to do is tell them where our customers want to go, when they want to go and come back and how many of them are involved. Everything is then handled by V-One with the assurance of a company who has been doing this for over 14 years.
They always provide us with a great solution for our clients to the point where some of them have asked us who we used for the charter as they want to use them again on a personal level. You cannot get a better endorsement of the service than that!
