President Bush took office after Bill Clinton finished two terms. Bill Clinton served 8 years which were widely regarded as eight prosperous years for the economy and especially for mutual funds. Bill Clinton inherited an economy that did not have a balanced budget and had high unemployment. Within his 8 years of service he was able to turn around the economy and create prosperity.
Bush was then elected and under his administration, this economic boom was quickly reversed into the worst economic conditions in over 50 years. Here is the data.
When Bush took office Unemployment was at 5.1 percent now its at 6.1 percent.
When Bush took office the Deficit was at 281 Billion dollars with a balanced budget with forecast surplus of 500 billion, now Deficit is 357 B and no balanced budget.
When Bush took office the National Debt was 5 Trillion dollars, now its 10 Trillion.
When Bush took office Gas was 1.46 Gallon, now Gas is 4.50 Gallon.
When Bush took office the congress was controlled by the Republican Party and kept control for over three quarters of Bushes 2 terms.
People can argue over which senator passed which hill or which party spends the most money, but of course there is no disputing the actual data presented here, and the fact that all this transformation happened under the watch of President Bush and the Republican Congress.
Now the Republican Party is clearly attempting to offer 4 more years of the same methodology that created this severe and very scary economic situation. Not only is the agenda the same, but to aggravate the situation even more, they have selected nominees that are the strangest pair to ever have been selected. Out of all the potential candidates they had to choose they picked a geriatric maverick and a bosomy cheerleader for the party, each of which have very little credentials to fix this economic crisis the country now faces.
