Many companies, even in the year of 2006, wonder if they really need websites. Some reckon that websites are only meant for large multi-national corporations while some believe their business can never benefited by internet. However, it has been proved time and time again that any company, regardless of their size or type of business, need websites in order to survive in today's competitive world. If one has a business or company, he should definitely have a website and there are numerous reasons behind it. If a company sells certain products, then having a website is a must for them. That is because now-a-days, there is very little that cannot be sold over the internet. Furthermore, it is opined by the internet marketing research firms that the number of online consumers will augment at a rate of thirty to fifty percent over the next few years which means, virtually anything will be sold over the internet and a company's product, whatever it may be, should not be an exception. Current circumstances should to be adequate for any company to have a website.

A company should at least have an online presence so that the investors, business partners, potential employees and most importantly, customers can easily find out about the company and its services or products in a very quick time. In addition, the company needs to have a professional looking website in order to be taken seriously. Now-a-days, many customers seek information online before making a final purchase and therefore, a company needs to make a good impression on the potential buyer by having an easily navigable, yet professional looking website. Otherwise, the visitors, judging the company by its shabby website, might think the company does not have much to offer and turn away as an outcome.

E-commerce has become a very common term now-a-days and the click-and-mortar companies reign supreme in various fields of business. If a company falls into that category, it is virtually doomed without a website. On the contrary, having a website gives the edge to a company over its competitors. For instance, an auction company powered with a website will certainly attract significantly more customers compared to a company which does not own one.

A website is also beneficial to a company by numerous other ways. Foreign business partners or customers of a certain company can easily skim through a company's online profile to appraise them which is pretty inconvenient otherwise. A website helps a company to showcase its experience, achievements to the visitors. It also provides every kind of contact details regarding a particular company.

A company should definitely have a website because of its innumerable benefits and the consequences of not having one.
