Follow the Evidence - The Absurdity of Evolution

The creation versus evolution debate has raged for decades. Many are left to wonder if there really is a debate anymore. The voice that dominates most origin discussions is that of evolutionary thought. Yet, we are left to consider the following; if the evolutionist theory holds so much weight why do those who espouse such beliefs insist on attacking Intelligent Design? If evolutionary thought were as clear-cut as many insist, there would be no debate. However, when faced with the basic premise of evolution there is no REAL evidence for evolution as a theory and certainly not as fact.

It's ironic that evolutionists hold those that believe in Intelligent Design to a higher standard of proof than they expect of themselves. The truth is, creation and evolution can never be proved with one hundred percent certainty when faced with established scientific standards. The best that we can do in this life is to examine all of the evidence, weigh it carefully, and then (with no prejudice), follow where the evidence actually leads. Unfortunately, most people never take rational steps to examine the evidence. They blindly accept so-called theories as fact, but have no clue as to why they do this.

We have one life to live and a limited amount of time to reach important decisions. There are certain decisions that form the basis of how we respond to other decisions in life. The culmination of those decisions forge who we are and how we react the remainder of our lives.

At the age of 15 I began considering the validity of evolution. Science classes presented evolutionary thought as "fact". Millions of students continue to learn that humanity is simply the byproduct of evolved life forms that began as a primordial ooze and altered through random advancements over millions of years until time and chance finally brought forth humanity from a variety of failed 'links'. This paradigm doesn't seem to be infused with a significant amount of logic to me. However, I ultimately accepted it as a teen because it was being taught by one of my teachers who had authority and a college degree. Surely they would not teach anything that was not true. Right?

Even after graduation I couldn't shake what I learned in school. If evolution were true then God could not exist. If God did not exist then my life would be profoundly impacted in a way that would deny the faith I wanted to hold on to. If God did not exist, I was free to do as I pleased with no worry about the consequences. While this scenario held some appeal I knew I could not be comfortable with this scenario. There had to be more to life than random chance and subjective truth.

The internal debate was waged over several years and the more I learned about the complexity of life, the non-existent evidence in the fossil record, plus many other proofs that, when put together, formed a cohesive picture of how life really came about on this planet. I also learned that the majority of the scientific community held a steadfast refusal to look at these facts objectively. This was not because there was not ample evidence for creation, it was simply because they had already formed an opinion and refused to look at where the evidence eventually pointed. I came to understand that the science that refused to look at all sides of the issues of origin ultimately led to a fallacy in conclusion.

AN ABSURDITY UNCOVERED

It may sound harsh, but I find it absurd there can be serious consideration of the claim of evolution in the 21st century. Numerous scientific discoveries over the past 10 years have effectively crushed the so-called theory of evolution. I want to convey the following thought as clearly as I can, THERE IS NO EVIDENCE to support evolution as fact. Much of the scientific community will refute my statement, but they do not produce the evidence to support their claims. Because the theory has been presented as fact for so long, people seem ill equipped when considering the possibility that evolution is actually unsupportable. People have heard the claims of evolution for so long they find it reasonable to take evolutionist theory as an undeniable fact even though thoughtful scientific exchange refutes those claims. Even when there is no supporting evidence, people hold on to this so called fact.

We look at the world around us and use reasoning and logic to make decisions everyday, yet evolution has become one of the few things that we accept without asking any common journalistic questions; how, when, where, why, who and what.

USING LOGIC

Let's consider a scenario that runs parallel to evolutionary principles. Most families with young children have some alphabet magnets on their fridge. If a family member were to find a message spelled out with the magnets that said, "pick up eggs", that individual would logically and rationally assume that a human being formed this message; most likely a family member with thought and purpose. Would it be rational to assume a pet fashioned the letters to form a message? Would it be rational to assume that the letters came together to form a message when the refrigerator door was closed? No. Why? Because experience tells us that any message received in the past was the result of a mind that used reason and logic to form words that hold meaning. Information is ALWAYS the result of a mind.

If we come to this conclusion on something so extremely simple, why would we use a separate logic when it comes to much more complex information such as that found in one DNA molecule?

There is enough information in the DNA of a single human cell to fill an encyclopedia of one million pages. It would be impossible to read it all in one lifetime. If one person set out to read one DNA code per second, non-stop, all day every day, it would take him 100 years. That is because the encyclopedia in question possesses nearly three billion different codes. If we wrote down all the information in DNA on paper, it would stretch from the North Pole to the Equator. That means some 1,000 large volumes-more than enough to fill a big library. (1) If the letter magnets could not have formed by random chance, how could DNA, which is infinitely more complex?

Think carefully; if you logically observe the world using one set of criteria, why would you use a different set of criteria to make a decision about the origin of life?

One look at the complexity of the human body should convince anyone that we are not here by some random unknown force. The human body is infinitely complex; nothing man has ever created holds a candle to the miracle of the human body.

"I could prove God statistically; take the human body alone; the chance that all the functions of the individual would just happen, is a statistical monstrosity." George Gallup, Famous statistician

"It is as impossible that pure incogitative matter should produce a thinking intelligent Being, as that nothing should of itself produce Matter." John Locke, Essay Concerning Human Understanding, 1690, IV, x. 10

CELLULARLY SPEAKING

Even the cell itself is not as simple as once was thought. A cell is like a very complex factory. Many different 'molecular machines', like the golgi apparatus, the endoplasmic reticulum, the mitochondria and many more, take care of various processes within the cell. The processes are all part of one complex system, which means that one process cannot function without other processes. In other words, they are all-or-nothing: either everything is there and it works, or something is missing and it cannot work.

Each microscopic cell is as functionally complex as a small city. When magnified 50,000 times through electron micrographs, we see that a cell is made up of multiple complex structures, each with a different role in the cell's operation.

Michael Behe, biophysics professor at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, reasons that a cell can only function as a complete unit. That means a cell is unable to function if it gradually comes into existence by means of evolution. He uses a mousetrap as an example. A mousetrap does not function if parts are missing. All the various parts have to be assembled in the right order for the mousetrap to work smoothly. In this sense, a cell can only function if all the 'parts' (or systems) are present within the cell. That's what we call the 'irreducible complexity' of a cell. If only one minor fragment is missing, the cell is unable to function.

So the question is: How could a cell evolve from a 'simple' to a 'complex' form if it only functions as a whole, all systems included?

Now, this is the cell under present consideration. If the cell is a complex "factory" where all parts must be in place in order to function, how can any "honest" person think that the hundreds of systems that make up the human body "gradually" came together over millions of years? How could the digestive system, lungs, eyes, ears, and the brain have lived independently of the other systems while they "evolved" since they must all work together as a unit to function?

Evolutionists will say that all of the complex organisms we see on the face of the earth occurred by random chance with no intelligence to guide or create these organisms. However, how did the brain develop by random chance with no intelligent designer?

Four pounds and several thousand miles of interconnected nerve cells (about 100 billion) control every movement, thought, sensation, and emotion that comprises the human experience. Within the brain and spinal cord there are ten thousand distinct varieties of neurons, trillions of supportive cells, a few more trillion synaptic connections, a hundred known chemical regulating agents, miles of minuscule blood vessels, axons ranging from a few microns to well over a foot and a half in length, and untold mysteries of how-almost flawlessly-all these components work together. This is the amazing brain. (2)

OTHER BRAIN FACTS

...your brain is capable of having more ideas than the number of atoms in the known universe! (source: Tony Buzan, Head Strong 2001)

...your brain consists of about 100 billion neurons! That's about 166 times the number of people on the planet! (source: Tony Buzan)

It would take you approximately 3,171 years to count them all! (source: E. Chudler)

The brain is more complex than any computer known to man. We would never assume that even the most basic computer could have ever formed on its own. We know through the logic we use in everyday life that the computer was designed and engineered by many talented individuals. If this is true of computers, how much more the brain! The intelligence it must have taken to design the brain is mind-boggling! Why would anyone say that a computer was designed, but then in the next breath say that the brain was not? It isn't because the facts don't support design, but because they simply "do not want to believe".

We could spend much more time with the complexity of the eye, the lungs, our hearing, the heart, the nervous system, and many other systems within the amazing human body.

If you can honestly say that you can look at the human body, the fact that you can hear, see, taste, touch, feel, think, and have consciousness, and still say that we are not the product of an intelligent designer, then you are lying to yourself. It is entirely plausible that you chose not to believe. There is no need to debate with you for your mind is closed. You will never be convinced no matter how strong the evidence.

For those that are willing to search for the truth of origins, the following quotes will show what great lengths evolutionists have gone in order to protect their beliefs:

"Biology is the study of complicated things that give the appearance of having been designed for a purpose." Richard Dawkins, Zoologist, and Professor for the Public Understanding of Science, Oxford University, "The Blind Watchmaker," [1986], Penguin: London, 1991, reprint, p.1

"Biologists must constantly keep in mind that what they see was not designed, but rather evolved." F.H.C. Crick, Co-discoverer of the structure of DNA, Nobel laureate 1962, Professor at the Salk Institute, USA

Isn't it strange how evolutionists have to come up with unbelievable ways to maintain their belief in their dying theory?

Maybe the human body looks designed because it really is designed!
