Make Gift Wrapping Fun and Functional

After the gifts are all bought or made and all that is left is the wrapping, some people may panic or dread the chore. I look forward to that task. Every year I try to do something different to make it fun. I save the comics from the newspaper and use them to create a different type of wrap for any gift. It is inexpensive and fun. For instance I make Origami shapes from the comic strips and attach them with a glue gun to the outside of a package. I make birds, flowers, star shapes, trees or anything that comes to mind. No one can ever guess what shape the gift box is supposed to be.

There is no need to purchase expensive gift wrap. It just gets discarded any. I wrap a gift with a gift. By that I mean depending on the size of the package, I will buy items that are useful. A small box can be wrapped with a colorful new dish towel, or wash cloth. Larger items will fit inside of a pillow case or wrapped in a bath towel. A nice tablecloth can be used for a lot of different size packages. I have used anything from a handkerchief, a pretty scarf, wool socks, blankets or anything that can be useful.

There is basically nothing to dispose of and everyone appreciates the thoughtfulness. They will even go so far as to make arrangements out of the Origami items to display on a coffee table throughout the year. Try these ideas, I guarantee you will have fun!
