Nokia rarely gives its customers a treat with clamshell phones, so when Nokia 6101 was launched, many of the customers were quite delighted. This clamshell device is solid, basic and reliable, and entrant of mid range multimedia phones. The Nokia 6101 includes one of the best external screens, a comfortable keypad, user-friendly interface and an external camera. Sure, it seems that Nokia has gone back to the basics, but it also reiterates "simple is the best way to go".

The first thing that will hit an onlooker of Nokia 6101 is its colourful and external bright screen. The external screen reads almost everything that is present in the internal screen. So, there is a reception meter and a battery life indicator on either side, time on the top left corner, current profile and your choice of network. Further, the Nokia 6101 also allows the users to customize the look of the external screen by selecting from a plethora of wallpapers and screen savers. Moreover, the screen is high on visibility, making it one of the most discreet screens in the market.

In terms of design, the Nokia 6101 poses as a sleek, well crafted handset. The phone comes in a black, silver and chrome plastic finish, with smooth contours. The external antenna may be dismissed as obsolete by many, but it sure adds to the uniqueness of the Nokia 6101.When the Nokia 6101 is flipped open, it reveals a bright and clear internal screen. The screen has an uncharacteristically large and raised keypad. On first glance, the keypad looks a little atypical with its raised rubber-like keypad. But after using it for a little time, you will realise what a winner it is. The buttons are extremely well spaced out and comfortable to type. As any Nokia's set, Nokia 6101 is equipped with pleasing menu system. The intuitive list of menu system is so easy to operate that even a novice will find it delightful. The entire menu is displayed in a list format, with icons corresponding to the selection.

In terms of features, Nokia 6101 has sporting support for SMS, MMS and email messaging with T9, a VGA camera, Java games, FM radio, push-to-talk, a voice recorder and MP3 ringtones. The memory of the Nokia 6101 is not that great (4.4 MB), and there is no expansion options.hus, Nokia 6101 might not be a top level multimedia handset, but it is sure worth exploring.
