The San Francisco Dating Scene

A true melting pot, San Francisco has a hybrid culture, originating from the Asian, Latino and American roots. This would probably explain the open-mindedness of San Francisco daters. It is not uncommon and it is definitely acceptable to see people from two different backgrounds or cultures dating.

Some people have said that San Francisco differs from other cities with active dating scenes by their styles. For instance, the bars in New York are more casual compared to the San Francisco bars. It is also common for singles to go to gatherings held in museums, art galleries, and other unconventional venues for meeting potential romantic partners. But one of the trends in San Francisco nowadays is the Speed Dating.

Speed Dating is also popular in other major cities, but this type of dating is more widespread in San Francisco. There are lots of singles who are working and earning enough, and who do not have time to go to dates very often. Just think of Speed Dating as a Jobs Fair-there are many companies for graduates to apply to, many options are available, and the job interview is quick so the hiring can also be quick.

The most important thing in Speed Dating is not the "dating" itself. It really is not dating yet, because you will just talk with a member of the opposite sex for only five to seven minutes. And so what really matters is the first impression, how you come off to the person you are talking to. There are also sets of questions that a man or a woman asks the first time-such as "Where do you live?", "What are you into?", and "What is your job?" Of course, it is important to get information and to get to know the person as much as you can in such a short time.

For most San Francisco daters, it is important to have a partner who lives in the same city, or who at least lives near the area. If someone asks you the questions, "Where are you from? Where do you live?", you have to answer honestly. But if you do not live in San Francisco, then what are you doing, going to Speed Dating groups in San Francisco?

It is also a good idea to make sure that you will have something in common with the person you decide to date. Consider the tastes in food, for instance-do you have similar tastes? In San Francisco, Asian restaurants are found everywhere. Japanese restaurants are especially popular in the city. On your first date, make sure that you are knowledgeable in Japanese food, so if your date decides that you go to a Japanese restaurant, you would not get lost while trying to read the menu.

Most dating tips are probably just easy and common sense, but really, there are lots of things to think about. Because San Francisco has a reputation for romance, you really have to get serious considering what and whom you want to date. But do not spend too much time on thinking, just have fun!
