Booklets are almost and always interchangeably used to refer to catalogs. Although catalogs may be in some respect likened to booklets since they both are multi-page documents but in truth they are very different especially in their contents. First if you will observe closely, catalog contain more photos of products and services while a booklet contains only a small number of photos.

The photos used for catalogs are intended to promote products and services. On the other hand the photos used for booklets are intended to reinforce an idea, information and even a point of view. Another distinction is the fact that catalogs contain description of products and services with their corresponding prices---no such details are found on booklets. In short booklets are intended more for providing valuable information while catalogs are geared toward promotions. However I am not saying also that booklets may not be used for any marketing endeavor because it can perfectly function as well but still it will not be created entirely like that of a catalog.

Booklet printing is again different from that of catalog printing in the sense that only the outer covers as well as the inner covers are printed using full color or in black-and-white. Catalog printing on the other hand make use of full color printing even for its inner pages. The reason for this is that photos of products and services being promoted needs to come out as eye catching as possible.

Booklets…Booklets…Booklets….

I hope that you know by now the difference between booklets and catalogs. However I want to further give emphasis on booklets since I feel that a lot of people are really still confuse. I mean how many of you have requested for a catalog printing when all you really mean is booklet printing? Ok I know nobody is going to accept it because nobody would like to be branded as stupid but with the countless people living in the world I’m sure there is that one particular innocent individual that has committed this grave mistake.

Booklet printing is basically having the big books turned into little books. I’m sure some of you have pocket size dictionaries or pocket size horoscope books---these my friends are sample of booklets. What makes booklets so appealing? Obviously it’s their small size since its makes them easy and very convenient to bring anywhere. Booklets don’t occupy too much space unlike their big books counterparts. And they are not heavy.

However size is not everything. Small size items do not really have that much impact to people. This is also the reason why great effort is needed to enhance their appearance. In the case of booklets they are made to undergo full color printing just to boost their aesthetic appeal. The vibrant and rich color details provided by full color printing makes booklets to become visible.
