Basically, in a resume you are selling yourself to a potential employer, that is why, you need to do your best to make it perfect. Your final goal is to make a good impression on your resume reader. Resume is such kind of a paper that has a certain construction; you can't write whatever you want there. Make it brief and concentrate your attention only on the main information. It will make your resume understandable and easy to read. You have to be focused on your education, skills, accomplishments, strength, employment history and your goals for the future. All this you need to combine, think over it, and skillfully express it on a paper.
Here is a basic resume format:
Your name and your contact information (address, telephone, e-mail).
Objective (here you write what position you would like to obtain).
Education (school, university, other).
Skills (computer, foreign languages).
Work experience (places where you worked).
Activities and awards.
As additional information, you can attach your diplomas, personal characteristics, recommendations from the previous places of work, information about activities that you took part in that might be essential to your work.
You can write your resume in a chronological or a functional order. Chronological order it is when you write about your work experience and education with the most recent dates first and the latest dates in the end. This type is used the best in a case when your job history reflects growth. Functional order shows your best skills and accomplishments which you have demonstrated through specific work related achievements.
Remember, all the information should be somehow related to your future job, if it is not so, cut it. Try to be positive and don't display your faults. Be honest and don't overstate your possibilities. An experienced employer will feel this. Even if you will lied and got a job, then you would not be able to handle it. It is also very important to write without grammar and punctuation mistakes. One error will make a negative impression on your resume. To avoid this problem, proofread your resume, or give it to someone to check in case you are not completely sure in its accuracy. It would be better to pay attention even to such important details as paper and printing quality. If your future specialty deals with creativity, then you can use a good printing trick. It is simple; you just have to print out your resume on a colorful paper. Usually personnel department deals with dozens of resumes, and they all are in a one heap. By using colorful paper, you make your resume noticeable among all the rest ones, and, as a rule, it makes your essay readers interested in you and pay more attention to the content of the resume. But before using this trick, make sure that it is OK for you to do so.
I hope you have understood the importance of the resume and some hints for writing it. One more advice, before an actual writing, it would be better to make an additional research, make an outline and write a draft. After that you will have to do great on your resume writing.
