If you have ever bought anything from auction sites, or will buy anything from auction sites in the future, pay attention. You do not want to open yourself to unsuspecting attacks called recently referred to as 'phishing'.
As you know, there are a lot of 'phishing' attempts going on in the Internet world. Many people have been caught out and got their financial information stolen, sometimes without them even knowing.
Today I received another of these 'phishing' emails. These emails masquerade as the official website in an attempt to steal your login details, using scare tactics like 'you did not pay for this item, please login now to reply to the seller' etc etc. They can then enter your account and bid for items, putting the cost to you, among other misdeeds.
These emails look a lot like the official ones, and if you are not careful, you may click on the links in these emails and enter your private information into some scammer's server. These links go to what look like official eBay login pages, so you may be caught unaware, especially if it's 3am in the morning and you have a heavy hangover.
The new IM7 contains new technology that detects these sneakyphishing attempts, and there are certain software which help you detect them as well, but do get educated about these scams, for they do work if you are not alert. Be vigilant, and report any phishing attempts to the official website that the 'phisher' is trying to duplicate and use to cheat people.
