The lucky ones among us can go entire lives without ever coming face to face with violent crime. But unfortunately, we cannot all be so lucky. Rapists, murderers, armed robbers and other types of low life's are unfortunately a part of our society. That is why it is up to us to learn self defence tactics that could save your life.

One of the first things you will learn in most self defense courses is awareness. This is quite possibly the most important aspect of self defense, and it doesn't even involve anything physical. The more aware you are of your surroundings and the people around you, the better off you are. An attacker is likely to prey on someone who seems to be off in their own world. They want to the element of surprise, because that can often be the deciding factor on who wins a fight. But if you take away that element, they might simply move on. Awareness is a military self defense strategy that likely saves lives every day. People in the military are trained especially well on being aware of their surroundings. Their opponent is also relying on the element of surprise to become the victor.

Thankfully, it is no longer only members of the military who have access to these great secrets. Now with Chris Pizzo's Close Combat Training, all these self defense tactics that were once reserved for military people only, can now be yours. But before learning how to take down an opponent with one swift motion, you need to learn how to prevent yourself from even getting in that type of situation. By becoming hyper aware of everything that is happening around you, more often than not, you can prevent these situations from happening. As mentioned above, the criminal is depending on the element of surprise. Most fights are decided within the first second. Whoever has the first strike, and the element of surprise is usually the victor. So if you are always aware of everything going on around you, you take away that angle.

Another one of the self defense tactics that you will learn is ridding yourself of distractions when you are out in public. This includes texting. Although many of us are addicted to texting and do so while we walk down the street, it is perhaps the single worst thing you can do for your safety. A criminal will see someone who is walking down the street, with their eyes pointed towards their cell phone and see an extremely easy target. If you are not aware of what is going on around you, how can you even expect to stand a chance against a criminal. If you have to use your cell phone, keep it very short and always raise your eyes every few seconds to see what is happening around you. No one wants to be the victim of violent crime, but if you can avoid it, then it certainly makes sense to try. Military self defense strategies all start with awareness and avoidance, so start practising today.
