Honey is one of the most remarkable products you can use on any wound or burn. This is a treatment that has been studied in many countries around the world and the results have been the same. By applying a small amount of honey to a wound or burn and it will heal faster and better than anything else you can apply to it.

The best part is that you will not have any of the side effects that can be associated with the use of other topical treatments.

Honey has an osmotic effect and that is that it absorbs moisture that occurs in the wound naturally. Honey is a naturally occurring anti-bacteria agent that varies in its properties from location to location. This is noted because the makeup of the honey will change from location to location depending on the flowers that are indigenous to the area.

The process works in the following manor. You apply honey to a dressing and then apply it to a wound or burn. At this point the honey will begin to do what it naturally does, heal the wound or burn.

This is accomplished through several things. First the honey will reduce the inflammation and easy the pain and discomfort that comes with the wound or burn. This is not just something that happens at the surface but also deep within the wound.

The next thing that happens is that the honey's natural acidic level will prevent most bacteria from growing in or on the wound or burn. Then the honey's osmotic ability absorbs the moisture that bacteria need to grow in, thus preventing bacteria from growing.

This osmotic effect also makes it impossible for the dressing to stick to the wound or burn. There by eliminating the painful dressing changes that tear the wounds open and damage the new tissue that is forming under the dressing.

This process will render the wound or burn sterile within a couple of days and keep it sterile as well. This means that the wound or burn can heal from the inside out and with the minimal amount of scaring. By using regular bandages and dressings you have painful dressing changes.

The new tissues are damaged and lead to scaring, this is prevented by the use of honey as a topical agent for wound and burn therapy.

The quality of the research continues to improve and with each research project that is done a deeper and greater the understanding of the benefits of honey become. Honey has been proven over and over again to be a good natural healer for wounds and burns. The results will vary from person to person and with the type of wound or burn.
