After Buffalo Bills starting linebacker Angelo Crowell was injured breaking his leg on Sunday 3rd of December during a 24-21 loss to San Diego. Coach Dick Jauron told that the player would likely be placed on the injured reserve list.

Linebacker Crowell broke a bone in his lower leg when he was on a run by LaDainian Tomlinson on the Chargers' first possession. Immediately, Crowell was brought off the field, unable to walk by himself. Jauron explained that Crowell believes he was injured when he was kicked while trying to make a tackle. Despite the injury, Jauron added that Crowell is not expected o undergo surgery.

The loss of Crowell will be tough for the Chicago Bills. The former standout of Virginia is a Buffalo's third-round selection in the 2003 draft out. For his first season as a full season as starter, he played all 12 games for the Bills (5-7). He even entered the week-end ranked second on the team with 95 tackles. He earned his spot on the roster after filling in for Takeo Spikes who ruptured his Achilles tendon in Week 3 last season. This season Crowell started at weak side linebacker before being moved to the strong side after Spikes missed four games with a hamstring injury.

Coach Jauron explained that reserve safety Coy Wire and rookie backup linebacker Keith Ellison are likely to be considered as replacement for Crowell in the lineup. Wire, a Buffalo's third-round choice in the 2002 draft, is the Bills special teams captain and played linebacker in his final two years at Stanford. Wire already replaced Crowell during the game against San Diego, mostly because he had the most practice at linebacker. Indeed Ellison missed the previous two weeks with a knee injury. Wire finished the San Diego while with five tackles while Ellison had only one in limited playing time.

The Bills have already to deal with five players place on injured reserve including safety Troy Vincent, placed on IR because of a hamstring injury, starting cornerback Terrence McGee, who twisted his left ankle while returning a kickoff against the Chargers.
