You've faxed in your cover letter and resume, and have been called for an interview. Unfortunately, the interview is a component of the process of landing any job, and this process is never easy. Luckily there are a few things you are able to do to get ready for the interview so that you can easily amaze your future employer.

If you haven't done so already, study the company. Know its mission statement, its central values, and at least the goals for the department you happen to be applying for. From this data, prepare a list of intelligent questions which will be able to clarify your possible duties, which in turn, enables you to better relate your skill set to the desires of the company.

Dress to please. Be certain that you are aware of the customs of the company you're interviewing for. Dress in a style which is going to be acceptable to them. Be careful not to be too trendy (unless it would be suitable for the company to which you are interviewing) or too far behind the current fashion. A pleasant conservative middle is usually the safest choice.

Be prepared. Exactly like the Boy Scouts, you should always walk into an interview prepared. There are common questions that nearly every interviewer asks. Have answers to these questions worked out before hand. Being equipped for the interview illustrates to the company's representative that you're observant to details.

It is extremely simple to become anxious. Breathe evenly and retain calm. This will allow you to focus and pay attention better. Having to ask what a question was is quite embarrassing, and possibly a death knoll to your new job.

Take your time. In all likelihood, the interviewer is going to ask a couple of questions that are not standard, yet relate to the company somehow. It is very appropriate for you to take a breath, collect your thoughts, and provide a well produced answer. Showing that you care about your answers hints that you'll care about the company and your job later.

Don't forget your manners. When the interview is over thank the individual providing it for their time and attention. Once you return home, send them a thank you note for the same things, and spotlight what you enjoyed discovering about their company. This also shows the possible employer that you are still interested in the company and reinforces your attention to detail.
