In the situation of financial instability in the world, it can be stated that career choices seem rather difficult to make. Although the world financial crisis ended, all people still remember its outcomes. Unemployment can be seen as one of the most severe outcomes that affected many people. In that regard, it can be stated that increasing one's qualifications and having more than one specialization is a solution for unemployment in difficult financial situations. Thus, this article suggests training courses as a suitable self-development initiative that might solve unemployment issues.

The Problem

It is a common phenomenon for people working in a particular field to have a second specialization in another field. For people who had a second degree in a field unrelated to the first one, such consequences of the financial crisis as unemployment have less chances to occur. At the same time, even when the financial situation in the world is stable, many people tend to predict the demand for a certain profession and raise their qualifications accordingly, just in case. In the unlikely event of a recession, some sectors in the industry will definitely suffer, and it is hard to tell which sector it is until the recession occurs.

The Solution

Applying for postgraduate studies or seeking another major might be a costly option to consider for just-in-case situations. Thus, the solution can be seen in attending various training courses. For example, for a person working in the sphere of education or medicine, applying for courses in business management can be seen as an excellent self-development opportunity. At the same time, for people already working in the sphere of business, a good self-development initiative can be seen in taking courses in computer and/or networking. The main point is to choose a sphere from a different sector, increasing one's knowledge, and the same time, increasing opportunities and chances to never lose a job.
