Everyone needs to take a vacation now and then. For families, this can be a bit of a challenge, because picking a spot that meets the needs of children as well as adults. Luckily, there are some pet friendly lodgings in New York that are perfect for taking your favorite furkid along on the trip.
If you'd like to take a trip into the Big Apple and take your pet with you, there are a few things you should know. There are leash laws (all dogs must be on one at all times), and you need to pick up after your pet or risk getting a monetary fine. You can still stay in the heart of New York City with your dog or cat, however, at the pet friendly Hotel 41 in Times Square.
The Hotel 41 offers 47 guest rooms where you're welcome to bring along a furry friend, along with other great amenities such as robes and Belgian linens, complimentary newspapers, complimentary continental breakfasts and even free cappuccino and espresso. The location of this hotel is definitely topnotch, as you'll be near all of the big tourist landmarks like the Empire State Building, as well as being right off of Broadway.
If you decide to head out of the city for a few days, there are some top lodgings that are pet friendly. The Inn at Lake Joseph, located in the Catskill Mountains of New York in the town of Forestburgh, also welcomes your dog to stay with you on the premises. Just two hours away from New York City, this 135 year old Victorian home houses 15 guest rooms, spread over three separate buildings. All rooms come with a private bath, and many of them also include a fireplace and whirlpool, perfect for a romantic relaxing trip as a couple (with your pet included!).
Breakfast is served on the Veranda, which is screened-in in warm weather and glassed-in in the cooler months, allowing a spectacular view of the area. The Inn at Lake Joseph also offers travelers many different outdoor activities, such as snow related sports in the winter months and hiking in clement weather.
Whether you choose to take a trip to New York City, or you'd rather spend some time in upstate New York, there are many pet friendly destinations to choose from for your vacation needs.
