To plan career one must consider many factors and self-appraisal is among them. Many people can rarely rate their abilities by themselves and it is important not to think subjectively and to consider other people's opinions. Therefore, it will be easier for you to understand who you are from different points of view. Here are some tips.

Talk to your parents first

You should always trust parents and their opinion because these people will never lie to you. Moreover, they definitely know you better than others and can tell you the truth about your pros and cons. Ask them to describe your weak and strong sides. Do not be offended to hear the truth, even if it contradicts your opinion.

Listen to what your friends think

If you have some close friends, ask them to tell you how they see you in the future. As they communicate with you informally all the time, they might give you some valuable piece of advice.

Talk to career advisor

There are people who can advice you what to do and how to build your career. Find a good career advisor and ask him/her about the situation on labor market and possible opportunities after college graduation. Consider salaries and possibilities for career growth.

Surf in the web

You can also use the internet as a great source of information. There are many web sites that designed especially for people who want to build an excellent career. You will find many useful tips and tests there.

Make a list of your own thoughts

After talking to all people listed above, make a list of all your pros and cons using SWAT analysis. Consider all opinions and thoughts but make your own conclusion. It is up to you what to do in this life and if you do not agree with somebody- do how you feel. Although, think several times before you do.
