When a number of vacationers think about vacations, their views spin to long stretches of sandy beaches, clear ocean waters, cool winds, and bright sunshine. No trip to Rhode Island is complete without taking time to enjoy the picturesque, clean beaches. Rhode Island is the smallest state in the United States but has more than 400 miles, or 650 km, of shoreline and over 100 public and private beaches. This is why Rhode Island has been nicknamed, the Ocean State. A huge number of tourists take trips to Rhode Island every year to enjoy this long stretch of scenic coastline. The more protected beaches of Narragansett Bay feature ?breakwater? barrier protection and may be more appropriate for novice swimmers.

Certainly, Rhode Island has abundant beaches with thundering surf and miles of spectacular views. Since, there are plenty of waterfront entertaining areas, tourists can enjoy a range of water activities, such as surfing, boating, and swimming. Travelers can also indulge in other water sports activities, such as kayaking, fishing, and canoeing. Hence, regardless of whether tourists are interested in boating, beaching, or both, the ocean definitely plays a big part in their trip.

The ocean has attracted vacationers to Rhode Island for a long time, including a number of the wealthiest travelers in the world. This is the reason that Rhode Island has some of the most lavish seaside mansions that at present are the state's most well-known travel attractions.

For tennis enthusiasts and players, Newport is the place to visit, as it is the home of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Situated to the south of Newport is the state capital, Providence, wherein Rhode Island College and Providence's Children's Museum are situated. Block Island is a short, one-hour ferry trip from the beach of Rhode Island and offers numerous outdoor activities, such as hiking and biking, and features the Block Island North Light, which a historic lighthouse. Taking into consideration its size, Rhode Island also features many golf courses that can create a challenge for players of all levels.
