Leeds is a large and wealthy city, which is centrally situated in the North of England. The City is renowned as the commercial and art gallery capital of the North and has long been known for its extensive manufacturing industry, which is still thriving.

Kirkgate Market first started in 1822 as an open air market and the earliest inside bits were built between 1850 and 1875. Unfortunately, much of the structure, except the Vicar Lane frontage, was destroyed in a 1975 fire. although, the Market was refurbished in the early 1990s and following this, Kirkgate Market was upgraded from a Grade II to a Grade I listed building.
