What Thoughts Rule YOUR World?

"Thoughts rule the world"

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

In Chapter Two of "The Control Freak's Guide™", we talk about an idea that has been proposed throughout history, namely, that human thoughts have more power than people often acknowledge. More specifically, the basic premise is that human thoughts actually shape reality; that which you think in your mind becomes real, tangible and concrete. The Law of Attraction asserts that your thoughts set certain actions in motion in the universe and actually draw to you more of what you think. Now, you gotta' admit...that's a little mind-boggling! Why? Because the implications are tremendous! So what does that really mean for creating the life you want? -It means everything.

Based on this premise, each of us as individuals has far more power than we give ourselves credit for. So many people go through life, simply reacting to situations as they arise, telling themselves that "this is just the way it is", or "I just have to deal with this" or similar phrases. But we invite you to entertain for a moment this much-proposed theory that it is an individual's thoughts that dictate what happens to him or her, and for him or her. If in fact this is true (and we may as well say now, we believe this to be true), then what are we as individuals allowing to be our governing thoughts?

You see, if we extrapolate this theory to its logical conclusion, then every time you look at a circumstance in your life and, say, tell yourself that you don't like it, you in fact have the power to change it. How? By changing what you think! So, let's pick a topic to explore. Something that is fairly common, although maybe not universal (or maybe it is). How about finances? So many people struggle with finances in some way, shape or form. Maybe it's that there doesn't seem to be enough money. Or maybe it's that the bills feel overwhelming. In either case, changing the way you think about the situation can, absolutely, change your financial circumstances. Sound hard to imagine? Okay. But hard to imagine doesn't automatically mean it can't happen. Once again, it simply means that there's room for you to expand your mind, open yourself up to the possibility. More and more people are using thought power to make manifest all sorts of things in their lives. So why not try it on and see if it works...?

So now the question becomes, how does one in fact change his or her thoughts? Often the task can seem daunting. So, as is so often the case, the key is to take baby steps, beginning with awareness.

Step One: Acknowledge that you're looking at the situation, whatever it is, from one particular angle. For example: "I don't have enough money to do what I want."

Step Two: Try on several different angles. What's a different way to look at this same scenario?

Step Three: Decide which of these angles feels like it might be most liberating.

Step Four: Choose thoughts that support this more liberating angle-go ahead, just start saying them to yourself.

Step Five: Repeat these thoughts, over and over again, and watch how the possibilities expand.

Now you know that your thoughts are potentially limiting your life - creating a box in which you live. Furthermore, you've got a tool to break free of the box. So we invite you to play with your thoughts, know that you can change your reality, and start moving towards the life you really want. How much do you trust yourself to do this? Now there's a thought to ponder!
