When winter rolls around, it's time for the sandals, shorts and bathers to be put away and for all the woollies to come out. But as the temperature cools down, you'll soon start to see that your wardrobe may be lacking some winter accessory essentials. While it's important to stay warm and look great, this doesn't mean that you need to spend a fortune. Here we'll discover the necessary items you need to have for this winter that will be versatile and durable.
Scarves - Perfect for Blocking the Wind
While we spend a decent amount of time indoors during winter, when you do venture out, the wind can be so strong it can cut through the warmest of winter coats. This is mainly because of any openings that the wind can get to, including the collar of your jacket! Therefore, a scarf is perfect for blocking the wind out and keeping the warmth in! There's a large variety of scarves on the market today, some for fashion, others for warmth and more often than not, you'll be able to find one that both looks great and keeps you toasty! When purchasing a scarf, look for styles that have a close knit to avoid wind penetration, that are an adequate length so they can be wrapped around your neck multiple times and lastly, is made of a quality textile such as polar fleece, an acrylic blend or wool.
Beanies and Hats
Some experts have said that around 30% of the body's heat can be lost through the head! No wonder so many people call themselves a "cold fish"; they're probably not wearing a beanie or hat! When it comes to choosing the right headwear for the winter months, the options are almost endless! Whether it's a beret to look swish on the way to work, a beanie for the weekends, a fedora to make a statement for a night on the town; it's really up to you and your lifestyle!
Gloves
Many people tend to avoid wearing gloves as they are often tricky to work around when handling various day-to-day items. However, there are a range of versatile styles of gloves that will not only look great, but make it easy to get on with your day and keep your hands warm:
• Mittens with in-built fingerless gloves give warmth and don't get in the way
• Fingerless gloves are perfect for those who constantly use their hands but need to keep them warm
• Traditional gloves will offer the most colours and textiles including leather, wool, poly-blend, polar fleece and acrylic.
When it comes to finding these essentials, most people tend to go to their local retail or department store. However, online shopping is now becoming more and more popular. Not only does it offer a wide selection, but also the chance to get some great savings.
