When most people try to lose fat fast with cardio, they tend to try and go for long periods of time on a treadmill, stationary bike, elliptical, rowing machine, or stairstepper.

Did you know that there is a faster way to lose fat fast with cardio that has nothing to do with long, boring, and time consuming exercise sessions?

Before I tell you what it is, you should understand why these long routines may actually end up doing your fat loss efforts more harm than good.

First, if you do the same cardio routine over and over again without ever changing it, your body will eventually adapt. Sometimes in as few as only a few weeks. This is not optimal because pretty soon you have to go long and harder in order to get the same workout you did when you started! Who wants to try to lose fat fast by always having to increase their workout time?

Second, the same speed cardio routines do nothing to increase your metabolism. Metabolism is how your body burns calories. The faster your metabolism, the more calories you burn. If you want to lose fat fast, then having a fast metabolism is key.

The real key to lose fat with cardio is called interval training. A typical interval training session consists of:

5 minutes: Warm-up
2 minutes: Slow
1 min: Fast (or 30 secs if you are a beginner)
(Repeat "slow - fast interval" 3-6 times)
5 minutes: Cool down

As you can see above, it involves alternating between high and low intensities. This is a great tool for burning fat because the high intensity periods will actually raise your metabolism after you are done working out! This only happens if you do the intense minutes by really working yourself. These routines are awesome for helping to lose fat fast!

Aside from the metabolism boosting effects you get from interval training, you will also see that it is a lot less monotonous than same speed cardio.

It is so much better to think "ok, only 1 minute to go until I change intensity" as opposed to "oh man, 38 more minutes to go".

You can get a great interval training workout in with only 20-30 minutes per session! This is great way to lose fat fast while not being bored for long periods of time like before.

If you are a complete novice at exercise, try using the recumbent bike for your first interval training session. This way you can still work vey hard without having all the weight and stress on your joints. You want to lose fat fast, but be sure you keep your own safety in mind. It is a good idea to check with a doctor first.

Start out with 2-4 sessions per week, and gradually work up the intensity. Remember that you can see results quickly by doing this, but please don't go overboard and interval train for extended periods of time.

The effort to lose fat fast can be very rewarding if you are patient and persistent. Good luck!
