Ayurveda vata is one of the three bodily humors or ayurveda doshas in ayurvedic medicine. Ayurveda vata is unique sets of qualities that help it to play its specific role for keeping us healthy and in for managing our disorders. Ayurveda vata manifests in our body primarily in certain organs and they offer a signal for us to be aware for any imbalance or disorder.

What Does The Word 'Vata' Signify?

The meaning of this word is movement. It has three connotations - knowledge, movement and getting something. So Vata is the factor that is responsible for these three features of our body or living being - knowledge, movement and getting something.

The soul of Vata is Air principle that is one of the five primary elements. The Air primary element stands for the kinetic energy. This kinetic energy principle is responsible in the universe for all movements - planets, solar systems, galaxies and universe to cellular and atomic or subatomic. On earth, all movements like flow of air, flow of water, rain, and germination of seeds and all movements of cells are governed by this principle.

Seven Qualities Of Ayurveda Vata:

Ayurveda vata has seven qualities that are responsible for its actions. They are - 1) Dry or dryness or non-unctuousness 2) Cool or coldness 3) Fineness or micronizing property or penetration power 4) Mobile or ability for move 5) Clearness or transparency or dilute or non-sliminess 6) Roughness 7) Lightness

Location Or Places Of Ayurveda Vata In Human Body:

All the channels of body (arteries, veins, lymphatics, nerves, tracts, ducts, cellular spaces and channels in cell membrane) are the route of Doshas. Vata, Pitta and Kapha act throughout the body. They are in a dynamic equilibrium in the healthy state.

However the activity of ayurveda vata humor is manifested or seen primarily in following organs - urinary bladder, rectum, large intestine, thigh, legs, bones, bone marrow, ear and skin.

Actions Of Ayurveda Vata Humor:

Ayurveda vata humor stands for vital energy essence in its pure form and its deranged state is responsible for nervous disorders and degeneration. So its activity is seen during health as well as disease.

Ayurveda vata humor is responsible for - maintenance of body structure and functions, support for life energy, energy behind all activities, regulation of mental activities, perception of sensations and their cognition, transmission of impulses, psychological functions, breathing and growth and development.

So we see that ayurveda vata humor governs and influences in so many ways various biological, metabolic, physiological and psychological functions in our body. Its role in our health and disorder can only be concluded with this sentence of Charaka, the great ancient teacher of ayurveda, who wrote the most ancient, authoritative and comprehensive textbook of ayurveda - Charaka Samhita.
