When flying into the beautiful country of Spain, there's a good chance that you'll be landing at the magnificent Barcelona Airport. It's one of the more convenient airports of the world, only being a mere fifteen kilometers away from the center of the city. This makes for a hassle free trip after your arrival.

These days, anytime is a good travel season with flights being cheaper all year round. Many tourists who only thought to travel in the summer time are now making trips in the off season as well, forcing hotels and travel agencies to offer better packages throughout. Your best bet for travel in areas such as Barcelona is to combine your means of transportation between car rentals, trains, taxis and even private chauffeured cars or limos. The Barcelona Airport offers many of these fine services and here's a bit of a run down of what you can expect to find.

You'll want to consider your budget first when planning your trip. In helping you get back and forth from the Barcelona Airport, and getting around the city in general, here's some ideas that will no doubt help you out. At the airport, as soon as you depart there are a number of transportation options waiting for you. Some of these may be things that you need to call ahead of time to ensure availability, while others can be spontaneous decision.

One of the greatest ways to get around the city is by car rental. This works great for both lengthy and shorter stays. Being that shorter stays are usually business related, where time is of essence and needs to be highly considered. This is great because you won't have to rely on others to pick you up when you just have to leave in a flash and be somewhere. As well, visits to places out of town now become a simple task of grabbing a map and go, instead of having to set up for and wait for other means of transportation.

For vacations with family you cannot beat renting a car. Barcelona has many beautiful sites to see especially off the beaten path if you're an adventurer. Again, this makes it nice to be able to just come and go as you and your family please on your vacation. Don't forget the cost savings also if you're traveling with friends or other couples and splitting the bill. That's quite the win/win situation.

Now if you're the type of person who really doesn't want to deal with the hassles of driving yourself and would just rather relax and let someone else deal with it, then a taxi is a great option for you for your trip. Barcelona is about 15 minutes away by taxi, and you can find a taxi stand easily from nearly any terminal. The taxis in Barcelona are white and have a red stripe.

Trains are another great way to get out of the airport and into the city. The stations are very convenient from all terminals and you should be on the lookout for signs as you exit your terminals or ask airport personnel. The trains usually begin at about 6am and continue until about 11:30pm.

As in any large city buses are a widely used form of transportation. The Aero-Bus is the bus from the airport and their schedule is the same as that of the trains.

Don't forget about the private cars that are for hire in Spain as well. If you want to ride around comfortably on your honeymoon or anniversary, or just want to treat the family then hiring a minibus or a large Mercedes with a driver is a tremendous idea and an aspect of your vacation that will probably hold in your memory for years. Just be aware of the usual 4-hour minimum for this service.

You'll be sure to enjoy your trip with all of these great services at your feet.
