Another Cup of Coffee

For some every day starts out with a cup of coffee, caffeinated of course. Very simple, very invigorating, and very safe. From there they go on to lead their routinely planned life which includes the drive to work, the impeccable details of different tasks handed out by the boss (wo)man, and then an evening concluded by reruns of "I Love Lucy" and late night talk shows before the lights go out and the cycle repeats itself. They ask themselves why? What's it all about?

For others every day starts out with the same cup of coffee, caffeinated but with cream & sugar. They prefer a little something extra. The rest of the day is packed with their blackmail device relentlessly going off. Lunch is skipped and quittin' time doesn't come until well after the sun goes down. Their daily emails aren't answered until midnight only to start the process over in a few short hours when dawn hits. They wonder why life is so crazy? What does it all boil down to?

For a few less fortunate a cup of coffee still greets their morning yawn but it's the only warmth they'll feel all day. They have nothing to do but desire anything to do to pass the time before the lights go out (sunset). They crawl into their blankets on a park bench to call it a night and ask themselves why? What's their place in this world and when exactly is something suppose to happen?

The imagination is a powerful tool and regardless of who we are and what our life consists of we all desire what we don't have. We imagine possibilities of what our future holds. That's what keeps us all going. Diversity in life is one of the most intriguing concepts anyone can experience. It can also be one of the most frustrating parts of life. Without it monotony sets in. With it excitement follows.

Even though we're all different we wouldn't be able to survive without one another's strengths. Too many times it's our weaknesses that people point out to us. But if it wasn't for those weaknesses we wouldn't need anything from each other. And the worst feeling in the world is to not feel needed. Today's society needs to make a better effort to recognize every one on a daily basis for their contributions regardless of who they are or how big or small their efforts are.

Will we ever find our true place in life? Maybe, if we're lucky enough. But we'll always come to a fork in the road and then what? Is there a right or wrong decision? Of course there is. There's a lot of right and wrong decisions. We just don't always know the outcome when we're making them.

Hmmmm..... may I suggest another cup of coffee?

I'm a glass half-full young professional type who practices in the field of pharmacy. I have a passion for studying people though. It's my attempt to understand humanity and all the good and bad things that come from it. Isn't that how we challenge ourselves to become better people by learning from our own and other's experiences?
