How to get your Metal Bands Signed

Here are a few tips that may seem fairly obvious but people sometimes overlook.
Get rehearsed - stay rehearsed
It's the number one priority no one can over emphasis the importance of being ‘match' ready. Even when there are few gigs in the pipeline, keep practicing! You are only 1 phone call away from the next show.
Make Promotional material
The most important promo is your bands demo, As a rule go to the best studio you can afford, research your studio and the engineer, has he ever produced your style of music before? The first demo I made I was in a thrash band and the engineer had only done teen-pop bands, Imagine the results, I don't have to, £500 down the pan
Make a website, Make a website, Make a website
Make a website, but make a good one. Don't ask Dave to do one because he is never off the net. Get professional advice, University notice boards and Rock society website are a good place to start to find a designer at a good price.
Include some of your demo material on there. You can make a site from scratch or a site such as Myspace.com. I would make your own static site and use a myspace site too.
Get your site noticed!
Use myspace to add friends, find people who may be interested in your music and let them know who you are!
Metal bands, submit your logo to metal resource sites such as
wallofmetal.com heavy metal advertising
it's free and will get you a lot of visitors
Make flyers about your band, don't forget to add your Web Address.
Hand out your flyers at all the gigs you go to.
Stand outside when the venue is letting out and give your flyer to people on the way out.
It's better to give them the flyers after the show, there is more chance they will read them whilst they are on the bus or train home.
Sign up to Google Adwords, this will get you some visitors but it will cost you!
Contact as many Bands/Labels/Promotors as you can.
Let other bands know you are available for gigs on a supporting slot level. The more signed bands you play with, the more the scene will take notice
Any newspaper clippings or magazine reviews you get, Keep them and make a press pack out of them. Send this press pack to Record Labels.
Remember to include your demo, Flyers, a list of which HIGH profile bands you have played with. It is worthwhile to get this made professionally, there are hundreds of good pack writers available on the net.
These may be simple points but they are vital to getting your band noticed
