Global Consciousness?

Before you grab an image off the top shelf of your ego and plug in the apprpriate responses, justs relax and take a deep breath and tell yourself, "I am going to be open-minded". Put that tape back that says global consciousness has anything to do with the United Nations. The UN is man's attempt to cobble togetgher some sort of unification organization with power. It's wound up as a glorification of individual nation egos who like their salaries and pontification lifestyle.

There were two mantras or slogans being pitted against one anotehr in this alst election cycle. Nothing can be simplified into what I'm about to say; however, the concepts did say something: Country First vs. Change! You know which one won out. I am as patriotic as the next guy. In fact I can't help but shed some tears before large sporting events when the marching band, color guard, and patriotic songs break out.

We all agree that no man is an island.

Well, let's take that to the next level. No nation is an island. America has taken on enemies large, small, distant, and near. Why? One portion of the answer (not the good part) is because we can, we could. We had theresources to do whatever we wanted. HAD is the operative word. We can no longer spend tens of BILLIONS a MONTH to fight evil somewhere in the world, especially when we're going it alone or with almost alone.

The international financial crisis has given world leaders a unique opportunity to create a truly global society, Britain's Prime Minister Gordon Brown will say in a keynote foreign policy speech on Monday. In his annual speech at the Lord Mayor's Banquet, Brown, who has spearheaded calls for the reform of international financial institutions, said that Britain, the United States and Europe are key to forging a new world order.

WORLD ORDER?

Well, that sounds interesting, but what about the largest nation in teh world being involved (China)? What about the second largest populated nation in the world as well (India)? And can a small non-European nation have a say or is this for just the so-called privledged? You know that answer.

With the chaotic state of affairs of this present world added to more than choppy waters over the next four years, we need some "coming together", and not just of the privleged class. It's time to get serious about an exponential increase in consciousness- a global consciousness where POWER isn't the goal but BEING and SERVING is. I know, it sounds too pollyanna, especially to the ego. But what choices do we have?

Seriously. Where are we headed if we don't come together?

United we stand- a house, planet divided will surely FAIL!   :-(

As a spiritual-futurist, I interpret current events in light of possible macro-universal forces at play leading up to 2012, but not limited to it.
