Stand Tall and Live Your Life
The person talked about not thinking of themselves as a victim but as a survivor and this is exactly what I always say about myself. Whenever I am challenged by something I remind myself I am a survivor and if I can get through that I can get through anything. My past experiences have made me the person I am today and although I would never want to go back there in some ways I thank god I got through it and it has given me the life skills to face the world and not be afraid to try new things and accept challenges full on.
Like this person I was told not to tell anyone because no-one would be believe me but that isn't true. I have now learned that people do believe you and what is more they support you and encourage you to move on with your life and grow into a strong human being, to fight back and not lay down or give in.
People who abuse others are basically bullies and when you start to stand up to them either on your own or with someone else they back down. I had a very strong powerful man bullying me and I was petrified of him, he wouldn't think twice about knocking me into oblivion to get his own way. Since I stood up and told my mother to keep him away from me and get out of my life or I would report him I have heard nothing from him. It was the scariest thing I have ever done in my whole life and for a while I expected repercussions but it has never happened, I feel like I beat the bully and now I can stand tall and not be afraid to live my life.
