Sailing is a participant day out where teamwork of the crew is the key of success corporate days out on the water can give some of the best bonding experiences for the staff and clients of a firm.

Perhaps the best place to conduct such corporate days is in the centre of UK sailing, the Solent. The Thames sailing barge is one of the most suitable boats available for a day on the Solent. The Thames sailing barge is a highly refined trade sailing craft and a day spent experiencing the power and complexity of the rig of these sailing barges involves significant amount of communication and participation by all those involved. Thames sailing barges vary in size being between 70 an 120 ft long and they have very large deck areas and a large internal cabin space with 7ft 6 ins headroom, this makes them also ideal for static corporate events. They have significant accommodation often with many berths, ideal should it be expedient to stay overnight. A Thames Sailing Barge gives a sailing experience completely different from any other sailing, even the expert yachtsman will find it interesting to adapt his experience to this very different but extremely sophisticated system of sailing. This plus the beauty and very distinctive red ochre colour of the sails will always make the day one of significance and as such memorable. An excellent way to further enhance a corporate sailing day is to use a RIB ( rigid inflatable boat ) which will give a very different experience. The powerful RIB's for hire, 225 hp and above are capable of speeds of 50mph, they give great freedom of manoeuvre, you can very rapidly go to any part of the Solent in amazingly short times. Worked with a Thames sailing barge the staff/clients can gain a true feel of two very divergent participant sports in one day. One of the advantages of a RIB is the ease with which it can run alongside a Thames sailing barge to load and off load the crew. The contrast between the very modern 50mph RIB and the old but amazingly efficient Thames Sailing Barge is another factor that will imprint the corporate day in the mind of the participant. One of the other benefits is the area, is the fact that the Solent area itself is of significant importance in UK historical terms.

Portsmouth harbour, Southampton and Cowes are the most significant ports and sailing between these and the smaller ports all of which are of significance both historically and in modern times make the teambuilding event an experience it is difficult to surpass

To summarise a corporate day out in the Solent using a Thames Sailing Barge and a 225 hp RIB will give the participant a very positive feed back, the power of the Sailing Barge coupled with the speed of the RIB makes the day one neither the staff or the clients will forget. The resulting corporate benefit though not precisely measurable can be best judged by the enthusiasm that will exude from the participants after the day out.
