Broadway musicals and plays are always a popular event in New York City. There are always a few shows which stand out and must be seen by anyone who loves theater. The musical Wicked for example has taken Broadway by storm and the grosses for these Broadway tickets are amazing. The first year Wicked grossed 56 million dollars and had patrons rushing through the doors of the Gershwin Theatre. The Jersey Boys has also become a popular show which has premium seating for popular nights selling over $300.00 frequently. Currently these two shows are among the top sellers for tickets and perhaps the most difficult to get from the box office at a face value price. There is always options for locating discounts on tickets no matter how popular a show is and with some advice you may even get Broadway tickets direct from the box office with up to 50% savings on a face value ticket.

Partial View Tickets -If you are willing to sacrafice full view of the stage a partial view seat may be the way to not only save money but also get into a popular show on a popular night. These seats are typically loacted in the orchastra section of the theater near the front or off to the sides. The view of the stage will be obstructed by props, theater arcitecture such as columns or even scenery from the show. Partial view seating can offer large discounts on face value tickets direct from the box office. The trade off may not be worth it for many, as you must forgo a perfect night out on Broadway. A call to tthe box office of the theater will let you see what partial view tickets are available.

Discount Codes - This is one of the more popular and sought after discounts which many search for. The great thing about these codes are that they come from the theater directly to promote certian shows and create buzz. The seats are not obstructed in anyway and may even be premium seats for a popular musical or play. The only downfall sometimes may be that the shows the discounts are good for are not a popular evening show time. So you may only be able to use them for certian matinees or slow evening nights. The discounts can be huge howerver, and save from 25% to 60% off of a face valkue ticket. The theater uses these discounts codes for marketing and many are available on the Internet if you search for them.

Rush Tickets - This is a more risky way to obtain your Broadway tickets. These tickets must be obtained the day of the show and are given out in a lottery system so there is no way to even gurantee you will be able to attend the show. The discounts can be very good with some tickets as low as $25.00 which makes rush tickets very intising. Rush tickets must be paid for in cash only and are given out about two hours before the show is set to start.

Reserved Tickets - The option of reserved tickets is one which involves a bit of luck as well. The best bet to obtain these tickets would be to call the box office of the theater and asked if anyone has cancled an order for tickets and if the tickets are now available. Many actors or patrons will cancle an order for Broadway tickets or have guests which they invited who suddenly are not able to attend the show. The theater will make these tickets available and often want to sell them last minute at a nice discount.

Student Rush Tickets - This is a great oppurtinity for any students who have an ID from their school. These tickets are very similiar to typical rush tickets as they are done in the same manner with the exeption that the discoiunts may be a bit better with the student ID card. Keeping the price of the Broadway tickets around $20.00.

SRO Tickets (Standing Room Only) - Much like partial view seating this option has the drawback of not having a seat and only having the option to stand throughout the performance. There will be no obstructions of the stage and the view will be fine throughout the show. SRO tickets can be had very inexpesivley at around $25.00 for even the most popular shows and nights. If the idea of standing for a tweo hour showe does not bother you this may be a sure way to get to see a hot Broadway musical.
